New Top Gear season! [SPOILERS INSIDE - Orko you had better have seen it]

LINK TO EPISODE 2: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...846#post6162846

So last night was the airing of the first episode of season 8 of Top Gear, THE BEST SHOW EVER. Who has seen it so far? It can be had at Finalgear.com.

SPOILERS

The home-made convertible Espace was AWESOME. Watching them run it through that carwash is right up there with my favourite show moments ever.

The Top Gear Dog, what? What a dumb gimmick this one is. The dog does nothing! I hope they teach her to drive a car later on in the series.

The Well-Spoken Man - who the hell is he? My theory is that he is eithe the current Stig, or a previous Stig. You may say "that can't be, he didn't take the Lacetti around the track quick enough." I think that's part of their silly plan, as the entire thing is clearly staged. Nobody else bothered to ask about the man.
{edit} Nevermind, a bit of sleuthing reveals that it's James Hewitt, who was Princess Diana's former lover.

The Koenigsegg CCX. Goddamn. Also quadruple-goddamn when The Stig wiped it out!

ME HUNGRY

damn...downloading now...can't wait to watch.
i always wondered if anyone has ever hit that tire barrier.
he comes so close every time.

Serious...I have not actually seen this yet.

I do how ever have seasons 1-7 now . Yeah thats right, i got the 25gig torrent!

Cale I'm confused though. I always thought that Top Gear started with Tiff doing the driving and others adding their own bits. When I started watching season 1, there was no Tiff, just the fat dude, the small guy and the girl with their new 'flashy' format.

I know that Tiff also does 'Fifth Gear', so whats the deal with those earlier works? The famous Mcl F1 test, and so on.

EDIT: Crashing a Koenigsegg CCX is not cool at all. The owner must have cried his eyes out. I wonder what their (the show) insurance policy costs for these tests.

Some serious Car-Wash ownage in this one

"We had something catch on fire that was made nearly out of water"

Top Gear started back in '89 I believe, but had a hiatus as Clarkson quit in '96 or somewhere around there with Tiff filling the void. I think. I'm not 100% sure so don't take this as fact.

Clarkson then came back, and Tiff went to do Fifth Gear.

I think.

Also, I wish I were The Stig.

Or have you already got it?

I would LOVE those. I've recently deleted all my previous Top Gear episodes to make way for the new stuff.

I really need another harddrive.

It most certainly does.

the stig wiping out - isnt that blasphemy?

i wonder what the repairs to the konegishsajdfhasdfadklnes cost...

Posted by VERTiG0 on May-08-2006 22:58:

It was the first time he's ever lost complete control of a car.

Also, Koenisgegg has taken the car back, will repair it, throw a spoiler on the rear to give that 806bhp monster some downforce on the rear wheels. The Stig reckoned that he could do the lap in 1:16 or so, completely smashing the Zonda F's record of 1:18.0.

Hm, I don't recall.

Posted by VERTiG0 on May-08-2006 23:31:

Okay it seems now that he spun out the Carrera GT in a practice lap of his, but never on a real power lap. Almost has a bit of a shakedown through Chicago, though.

Posted by Orko on May-09-2006 00:41:

I wonder how many warm up laps he gets.

Its just not fair to ask a driver to put in a hot lap just after their out lap. Its not f1 and they do not have tire warmers.

Poor Conig owner.

Posted by jester on May-09-2006 05:26:

Just watch Koenigsegg insane! NO TRACTION CONTROL!!!

Can not wait to see when they put a rear spoiler on that car for the track again!

Bio-fuel 900 bhp whoa!

---

Koenigsegg could for sure make a car that would eat anything for dinner.

Engine: Quad-Supercharged W16
Displacement: 9400 cc
Horsepower: 1612 - 1800 bhp

Now that would be very scary to drive!

Oh man, can I send you a coupla blank DVD's please?

Posted by 4-play on May-09-2006 16:49:

Watched it on Sunday itself. Very good season opener. The writers sure are getting better and better.

I too would surely give up smoking if I was handed the CCX.

Can't wait for them to test the 997 Turbo. Hopefully they will let it go against the F430, or maybe that is asking to for too much.
