Toronto, ON, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 The Salad Days Music Festival kicks off its inaugural year with Metrics Dog Day Afternoon at the Historic Fort York on Saturday, July 15, 2006.

Embrace Productions and High Voltage Concerts are pleased to announce the inaugural Salad Days Festival. Salad Days is defined as the time in someones life when they are at their youthful peak and the festivals mantra is to create this experience for our audience. Salad Days Festival is a cutting-edge music experience that will take place each summer at the Historic Fort York and each year will deliver a world-class festival experience to Toronto.

To launch the inaugural Salad Days experience, the festival promoters have joined forces with Metric to introduce the bands Dog Day Afternoon concept in Toronto with a shared vision as Jimmy Shaw from Metric explains: Weve played a lot of festivals in the past. Weve spent a lot of time backstage talking about what wed do if we had the chance. Well, we figured now we do, so lets make a festival of our own - one thats for us and for the fans. Dog Day Afternoon is about everyone, bands and audience alike, going home energized after the same experience. Everyone hanging out with their friends and having a great time on a hot sunny summer afternoon. Its about recognizing the new found respect Canadian music has had on a world level and celebrating it here at home. We put it together ourselves and we hope you like it.

Salad Days Festival presents Dog Day Afternoon will also feature performances by The Fiery Furnaces, Secret Machines, Electric Six, Holy Fuck, Wintersleep and Land of Talk.

Salad Days Festival will also add to this experience by taking a unique approach for the patrons as the festival site will include high quality niche focused vendor villages, food markets and beer gardens all embracing the Historic Fort York site capabilities.

Salad Days presents Dog Day Afternoon will bring together the different sounds and textures of the burgeoning Canadian and international musical landscapes. Its a day of music you wont forget!

Dog Day Afternoon will also take place in Ottawa (July 14 Ottawa Blues Festival) and Montral (July 17 The Old Port).

Some of my rock oriented friends actually got me into Metric. I will probably check this out, and try and bring some friends along.

If you like Metric, check out a band called "Controller Controller".
