letter by President Ahmadinejad to President Bush
I don't know if anyone has had a chance to read the letter that Iran's President wrote to George Bush. He brings up some very very good questions and I love the tone of this letter. Not attacking at all..just asking questions I think almost everyone in the world has asked.

Post your comments I am interested in hearing what others thought of this letter.

September eleven was not a simple operation. Could it be planned and executed without coordination with intelligence and security services or their extensive infiltration? Of course this is just an educated guess. Why have the various aspects of the attacks been kept secret? Why are we not told who botched their responsibilities?

I don't mind saying that I actually look at him differently now.

Those in power have specific time in office, and do not rule indefinitely, but their names will be recorded in history and will be constantly judged in the immediate and distant futures.
He talks like he's a presedent of a country that has democrasy!
IF he really believes in things that he mentioned he should let all the political parties to participate in the elections .
It's so funny how they do it , they say vote for me or my freind or my freind's friend...others don have the right to be here. and they call that Democrasy. about half of iran's people don't even vote.
I wish he could question himself as well.

Originally posted by rabbitjoker Iran is a "democracy" - as long as you ignore the fact that the unelected Supreme Spiritual Leader is the real source of power in Iranian politics; and that the reactionary Council of Guardians filters out the genuine reformist candidates for parliament and the presidency; or that the Revolutionary Guards ultimately provide the force that underpins clerical rule. And let's not forget the vigilantes of Ansar-e-hezbollah, who go around beating up students and immodestly-attired women. Don't let Iran's "president" fool you with skillfully crafted propaganda. Iran has a constitutional theocracy, and is not a democracy by any intentional definition. The whole idea of democracy is being able to choose the laws you live under, representative democracy is about choosing the people that will write the laws you want to live under and Iran doesn't offer anything like that -- you vote for radical Islamicist A or radical Islamicist B because those are the choices the mullahs give you. Of the +1000 nominees for President, +900 were prevented from running by the ruling theocrats. The same thing happens with their legislature every time they have an "election" for those seats too. They also regularly veto laws that contradict Islamicist values, while directly authoring the others.
yeah rigth. dictators usually are very skilled talkers.
they abide by the rule 'if you cannot convince them, confuse them'.

It's no different than the bullshit in any of Bush's speeches. Obviously a lot of what this guy says makes sense... but some of it is horse manure. I kinda lost interest when he started babbling about religion.
as only the moronic autocrat Bush can, he dismisses this letter as being void of having one aspect of policy change or proposal...much like his entire presidency.
kudos to the letterwriter, and an additional 10 points for questioning Bush on his prior knowledge of 9/11.
I love the fact that he is telling Bush to fuck off basically and Bush has nothing to say to him, because to him everyone is s terrorist anyways.
This president is exactly what Bush needs,Someone just as fanatic as himself.

The letter is too long and has no pictures - My guess is Bush just didn't bother reading it and watched TV instead...
There is nothing quiet as entertaining as two heritics claiming to be true followers of their faith bickering over which one of them is just and which will suffer "divine retribution." Despite their claims neither of these men act in accordence with that which they espouse to believe.
This letter is nothing but propaganda from a country that ceratinly has no right to question what goes on anywhere else in the world.
This week is was decreed that women could not attend soccer games in Iran.
A Canadian educator is currently being held prisoner in the country in the same prison where a Canadian journalist was BRUTALY murdered a few years ago.
Last year, two young men 16 and 18, were held prisoner for over a year. Tortured, and finally hung. Their crime? They were gay...
Whilst I understand that many do not support the actions of the US and its' president over the past few years, let's not affirm the daily violations of basic human rights by a repressive government...don't buy into this attempt to divert the real issue. Imagine this government with nuclear technology?
If you have the stomach for it...watch the video in the link below and then ask yourself what knid of letter should western governments send to this lunatic...
Video of Stoning to Death - Islam in action
Stoning to death is still carried out in the current era, in Iran and was carried out in the previous Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. ...

Originally posted by MarkT yep... While what he says isn't complete bullshit...it's far from an objective analysis of the situation...and nothing he says is new or profoundly observant. His words have neither any more credibility nor contain any more honesty than anything that comes out of Bush's mouth...as each individual and country has it's own agenda which often conflicts with the other. While this isn't the case of "good" vs. "evil" (as the U.S. likes to spin it), it's *quite* ironic that an Iranian president would preach about injustice to the president of the U.S. it's kinda like the pot calling the kettle black...both countries are notoriously "unjust" in many regards.
