-- Buying some tables??
hello, i plan on purchasing some tables..and need some advice? i do not want to spend much money but don't wanna waste my money @ the same time....so i don't mind dropping a chunk as long as it's worth it....but i would rather like to learn on some cheaper tables..and maybe purchase a decent mixer....=) so...i would appreciate if maybe you could name some tables and mixers i could grab and be happy with? thank you
Man, don't be stupid and don't make the same mistake I made. I bought 2 cheap gemini turntables for $300 thinking that for a beginner I don't need professional ones. Well, it didn't take me long to realize that I couldnt scratch and the needle would always jump as I tried to beatmatch.
Then I bought Ttechnics 1200's and the $300 that i spent before is burried in my closet, I don't think I'll ever use the old ones ever again. Spend your maney wise..
if you want a semi-decent set of decks with a semi-decent mixer..
the one i have in mind is the Citronic PD-1 or PD-2
based on the 1200s.. tho obviously not as good.. but at a low price.. comes with a MSX-1 mixer.. which ain't that bad.. www.citronic.com
i think.. or it might be www.citronic.co.uk
check it out..
A good choice of cheap tables is Next TT100... They cost around 140 each, direct-drive and have a good torque... About skipping: you can partially find a remedy in increasing the needle pressure by changing the tonearm imbalance... But then it will eat up your records.
also, it is much wiser to buy two good turntables and a bad mixer rather than vica versa, because the difference in mixers won't give you the difference in performance as much as the difference in turntables will...

GET SOME GOOD SHIT!
If your gonna spend cash, u might as well put and extra couple of hundred in, cos if u gonna spend $400, whats another $100 or even little more, its worth spending those little extra's that u think u shouldnt, Dont get the Citronic PD-1, i got it and its shit, cant even scrath properly, skips, u touch the table it jumps, i hate it honestly, Get something good like Technics SL1200 or even some Vestax. Spend up, cos u say for beginner, but in no time u will get the hang of it and want to scratch and do all sorts. Dont limit yourself....
