Final Fantasy XI

has there been an announcement on when this will be released? i know its going to be an online game so i would like to know which platforms will be supported? i also heard there may be some kind of fee to play this online. is there any truth to that?

I got an issue of Electronic Monthly and it said something about it being released here in the USA sometime this FALL (Nov). I think in Japan they are barely getting it (Sping), those lucky bastards. And yes, it is going to be an online gaming type game, for both PC or PS2.
