Jonas Steur

Has anyone in here heard of him before?

If I like him who else should I look for?

I really like warm, mellodic, emotional, very very emotional tracks...

Can you guys reccomend me some DJs I should look for?

Thanks.

I'm sure almost everyone on TA has heard of Jonas Steur, considering he was on the TA float that failed to make it to Loveparade 2006, and that two of his tracks were on the TOTY 2005. Coupled with Tiesto caning him about, I think it's a safe bet that he's not a "discovery". Nonetheless, check out stuff under his other aliases like Estuera, Fable, Propylon, and tracks like Red Shores, Nightshift, Second Turn, Tales From The South, and Silent Waves.

He's very good at making no-bullshit melodic trance.

he is a top-notch producer & dj, and also a very friendly guy irl!

big up to Jonas!

He's using only VST? Or did you mean that as "a genre"?
His tracks sound very smooth and they're well produced. Sounds like he's using Access Virus. One of the best new generation trance producers, IMO.

Arrow

For me he is good ... he don't produced tracks with vocals ... at least I don't remember anyone ... his best tracks for me

Estuera vs Relocate - Palma Solane ...for me is your best production
Fable - Above ... I really like this track
Estuera - Tales Form The South (Jonas Steur's Revision Flow) ... this version surprise me ... really cool

Summer Sessions - Blossom (Haylon Remix)
Probspot - Foreplay
Probspot - Blueberry
Probspot - 1997
Super8 - Cre8 (Mirco De Govia Remix)
Menno De Jong - Guanxi (Super8 Remix)
Tiesto - Nyana

Course there's many summer tracks ... I only have summer tracks ... but this I think is more closer Jonas Steur style ... maybe I forgot something

He is a talented musician too, and I have heard he uses hardware as well, not just VSTs. His family is quite musical, and he has said he's inspired by classical music, and you can tell because his music is very melodic, at times symphonic and quite good. I actually think his music is getting better, because some of the early stuff he produced under "Estuera" sounded a little dated and overly simplistic, I don't want to say amateurish but certainly his newer stuff seems more sophisticated, esp "Silent Waves", "Able", "Nightshift" and his reinterpretation of "Tales From The South" on Tiesto ISOS 5....so I defintely think this is a guy with a lot of potentional, and I think he might be up there with Micro de Govia IMO as someone who produces really good melodic trance still...

They aren't bad, but I say the remixes of their tracks are better IMO, esp the Ferry Corsten and Greg Murray mixes of "Sweetest Dreams"...

Steur's tunes sometimes do not make the transition to the dance floor but sound lush over the headphones i feel. He certainly has a distinctive sound even if it is very "ASOT'y"

See this is what I think, that some of these guys like him and MdG are kind of bringing back the old Chicane type stuff that is great for either dancing, for listening, or for soundtrack type stuff. Chicane did this very well, and so does BT and PvD too, but not quite as consistently as Chicane or MdG, because their tunes are similar to each other, well Chicane in the early days. On the other hand, PvD and BT experiment a lot with different genres of EDM other than trance, as well as different sounds... BT is the master at this. But I definitely feel some of these guys are pushing the boundaries and making this music not just club floor dance music, but compositional works...at least these guys have great potentional I believe. So I think thats cool...

I've only heard Sweetest Dreams and Deeper, the remixes and the original, and I think the remixes are much better than the original versions. But point me to some of their other tracks and I'll give it a listen, but i'm just basing it off of those so sorry if it sounded a little ignorant...

I think Jonas is a great producer that knows what he can do well, but he just needs to experiment a little bit more to make each release more distinct from others.

Oh I love chill out stuff, I am trying to integrate them into my sets, like in the beginning, so i'll check out those tracks you recommended, if I can find them anywhere...but thanks. I just preferred those remixes over the originals..but those all sound like chill outs so they should be pretty good. If their anything like Schiller or Enigma i'll like em
