Almost a victim to Nigerian MSN/Yahoo Messenger Fraud...
Ok not really but I was curious how far it would go, not having experienced it before.
I had some fun with it you might say...
Suspicion points in the story will be marked with the a number 1.,2.,3.,etc...
So her name is "Kimerly" and she's a model from California (how convenient!) and she found me on MySpace.
1. We started chatting back on forth on MySpace innocently enough, getting to know each other cause I wanted to know who this person was and WHY they took such an interest in me.
2. MySpace messages soon turned to MSN messages and before long she was in Nigeria (in the space of about a day)
3. Tells me that she would come to Toronto to see me if I wanted her to??? 
4. Tells me she's 29, never slept with a man and is still a virgin. LOL!
5. Tell me she loves me and will come to Toronto just for me. WTF?? 
6. Her mother was sick and she needed to be with her. She has a spinal cord injury and Kimerly has already spent $15K on dear ole mom but needs more money for drugs and stuff.
7. I pretend like I'm thinking about it and she's constantly asking about how much, low, high amounts and WHEN.
8. When I ask for the information she says hold on a minute I have to type it in. She doesn't type it, it's PASTED in after about a min.

9. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I couldn't send the money directly to her, it has to go to a 'friend' of the family because she has to take care of dear ole mom (big fuckin' RED flag goes up after this of course) as you can see from the name above ANIMASHAUN??
10. Since I've never done anything like this, I ask how does this work? Again she conveniently has the below information that is again PASTED into messenger: (this is exactly what was in my messenger).
Notice that it's all bolded and ready; pretty convenient eh? 
MONEY TRANSFER CONTROL NUMBER....
SENDER'S NAME.....
EXACT AMOUNT SENT.....
TEXT QUESTION AND ANSWER....
ADDRESS OF SENDER.....
11. And now the kicker, I ask her, so what should the question and answer be? She says, "Do you love me?" and "Yes I love you".
OMFGWTFBBQ!!!!??! 
Are people out there seriously THAT gullable to send money to NIGERIA???
12. I almost forgot. The thing that tipped it off in the very beginning. Her name is "Kimerly" yet the pictures she sent me (yea, I scammed some pics) weren't Kimerly... check the file name (I didn't change it)...
Dumb ass scammers...
I had some fun but I'm going to be cuttin' this person off tomorrow, when I'm supposed to be 'sending money'.
I never made any commitments but said just enough to string them along.
People, be careful out there. There are people that will try to mess with your minds.
It's too bad for them I'm a techie and a little too analytical. I don't say that to toot my own horn, I say that because it's what saved me.
After much Googling around after our contact tonight, I solidified my suspicions (as if it wasn't REALLY obvious anyways) but was shocked at the pervasiveness of this situation I now find myself in.
Let this be a warning to any and all!!!
And if you have any questions, or know someone who has been in contact with someone like this, tell my story and save them some grief!
we had to turn our fax machine off unless it was a client because we kept getting faxes from nigeria saying how we were set to make 10 million dollars if we would only hold 100 million in our US bank account for them they would pay us 10%.... all we had to do was give them our bank info! lol ... um let me think about that... no.
hahhaahaaha.
other ones had better stings of quasi beleiveable info leading up to asking for our bank account info. those nigerians can be funny characters. I'm sure there are suckers out there though that only see the 'potential' to get 10 million quick for doing nothing. There are only a hand full of people in nigeria worth anything close to that sum of money and you better beleive there is no Fing way they are going to need some random person to hold thier money for them! lol.

A friend of mine,owner of a trading company ,lost 400 hundread thousand dollars on a scam deal with nigerians buying sugar.
he was approached by some trading company from Nigeria to purchase some sugar. When he closedthe deal and shipment went to Nigeria. Customs and Nigerian port puted containers on hold and charged huge rent for it.
So the buyer demanded that seller comes to Nigeria to solve the problems with the customs and that a deposit for a specific sum for customs was neccesary to release the sugar.
Upon arrival to Nigeria,Hotel management took his passport (usual procedure in Europe) ,next day - buyer came to pick him up and drove him to the local bank. He deposited money and went back to hotel peacefuly,waiting for things to settle down. After 2 days of complete silence he tried to contact the buyer - the phone was off,he called to the bank and the bank phone was off too.
He couldnt get his passport back from hotel for some reason.He contacted British Embassy and only then hotel management gave him his passport back. With the passport in hands and an official rep from UK embassy he went to the bank to find out what is going on and WALLA! - there was an empty building .
scammer putted up fake sign for the branch,furnitrue,computers,hired clients,workers,cleaners.
Every day I get 5 to 10 business proposals from different companies located throughout the South Africa. all of em are fake.

In the Hearthrow Airport the most expensive dressed people are Nigerians..

I lost 100 dollars when I sent documents to the fake customer through Express mail.
uuugh I KNOW the feeling! Every few days, I get some african dude hitting on me via myspace or hotmail...i guess in hopes that i will marry them so they can gain citizenship in Canada

Never trust an African especially for online transactions..
p.s. the nigerians arent rich because of scamming, they are rich because of corrupt oil money.
nigeria has one of the worlds largest oil reserves, yet is one of the poorest countries in africa.

Wow the shit people try to pull these days over the internet is insane. What is even more insane are the people who actually fall victim to these sorts of scams. C'mon, internet? Sending money to someone you don't know and is 90% probably trying to scam you? Doesn't fit . lol

Oooh I remember I used to get those emails from a woman in Nigeria.
She asked me to hold 100 million US or so in my bank account and I'd get 10 percent, she said she had to hide the money from evil members of the royal family.
I also get alot of those creepy messages from African guys on myspace......
a friend of mine was trying to sell his cellphone couple months back on ebay and got contacted by someone from nigeria offering to pay him a thousand bucks for the phone if he didnt have to do it on ebay which was weird since the phone cost less than that when it was brand new.
he told him that he would send the money through some site called moneygram(not sure if this was the name) and actually showed him that he had sent him the funds. Luckily he called the company and found out that it was a scam and ended up selling it to a russian guy through paypal who used an unauthorized credit card to pay him but thats another story
