Exclamation Performing Techno?

Hey guys!

I was wondering how do you perform Techno. Also how do you see what your doing with strobes, and flashing stage lights.

Assuming that by "techno" you mean dance music, there are three principle ways:

1. Getting a full band of live performers and bashing it out like any other music.

2. Lots of analogue synths. See: Chemical Brothers, Orbital.

3. Load all your pre-recorded music into something like Ableton Live and pretend you're doing something skillful.

Is he asking how one mixes "techno"/EDM in general? And I think the little pop up work light on the 1200s let's you see what's going on.

Haha, I laughed when I saw that...

back to the question...
If you mean you found an artist like, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Sasha...

They are djs, they rarly perform with live instruments, they use turntables, cd players and computer to make mixes which are compolations of songs put together to tell a story or just cuz they sound good... read some stuff on those I said before, you'll get some insight...

some do have vjs who now go to shows with them...

Posted by Zoso on May-15-2006 20:17:

I wonder what the VJ gets paid to pull off a gig like a Tiesto in Concert show? You know the DJ is getting some 5 figure lovin, but what about the VJ that's making everyone trip balls to the track selection?

Posted by Djshortcircuit on May-15-2006 20:31:

Now tiesto is a differnt story...

He has his own pair of vjs... idk how much muh-la but, its gotta be good... I was watching some videos of tiesto with his vjs... they do one hell of a job, it was some of the coolest stuff...

Im also of the fan of like random vj words... like "Love" and "Life" seems cool when it goes with those types of songs..

there's some really good VJs over here, their work enhance the whole experience. I love it particularly when they loop images of dancing in the 1930s lol

That's easy. All deejays have a special third eye that cuts out strobes.
