Ferry Corsten "L.E.F."

Before I give out album info, I'd like to go over a few things first.

First of all, if there's already a thread about this album in this forum, CD Reviews/New Releases, fish it out for us please. I've checked to see if it was on this forum and didn't find anything about this album.

Second, what ever you do,PLEASE! STAY OFF THE FERRYCORSTEN.COM MESSAGE BOARDS!!! The reason I'm suggesting this is because there was supposed to be a release party for this album on the 26th and it got cancelled leaving many fans pissed off. They're pissed off enough that I don't think they'll deal with Ferry's new album for a while. Reminding them of the album might piss em off even more. Until things have calmed down, STAY OFF! I just don't want the fans to get more upset.

Now to album info (at least as much info I can pick up):

The following tracks are included:

01) Intro
02) Are You Ready
03) Fire
04) Loud Electronic Ferocious
05) Into The Dark
06) Galaxia
07) Beautiful
08) Possession
09) On My Mind
10) Down On Love
11) Forever
12) Watch Out
13) Junk (A remake of "Punk" featuring Guru from Gangstarr)
14) Cubikated
15) Freefalling

16) I Love You (Bonus Track for Europe)
16) Prison Break Theme (Bonus Track for America)
16) Insolation (Ferry Corsten's Flashover Mix) (Bonus Track for Japan)
16) Daylight (Bonus Track for other regions)

The release date in Holland'll be May 26th.

You've got to be kidding me...

this has to be the most excessively drawn out album launch/buildup in history; nearly all of the tracks have been played to death already. i'm finding it hard to see the appeal in buying it

Not only that, but Punk was ancient even before it found its way to Right Of Way.

so it has to be shit because you have heard all these tracks already?

I've heard only "fire" and "galaxia" and only some short samples of "cubikated", "I love you" and "loud, electronic, frocious" which are IMO very good so can't wait to hear the whole album. looks interesting.

I really hope this isn't the complete tracklist. It's sometimes appropriate to put maybe 1 or 2 previously unreleased (but old) tracks, but in this case I Love You, Cubikated & Galaxia (specially the last two) are pretty old, and, being honest, they are rip offs or remakes: Cubikated from 808 State - Cubik and Galaxia has more elements from Solarstone's remix than from his original version as Moonman and I really hope Isolation isn't a new mix of his 2001 track under System F guise. And another remake, now of Punk? Don't get me wrong, I really like Ferry's music (one of my favourite edm artist + saw him 2 months ago and had one hell of a time), but I hate to think his creativity has just disappeared.

Tracklist looks fine... These tracks are way better produced than the ones on "Right Of Way"; which sounded as a shit amateur album. Except for sublime & startraveller I didn't like anything on it. And there were some edits. Screw all edits .

If these tracks are gonna be in full length then I'll buy the album.

edit: Here's the tracklisting:

01) Intro
02) Are You Ready
03) Fire
04) Loud Electronic Ferocious
05) Into The Dark
06) Galaxia
07) Beautiful
08) Possession

12) Watch Out
13) Junk

16) Prison Break Theme (Bonus Track for America)
16) Insolation (Ferry Corsten's Flashover Mix) (Bonus Track for Japan)
16) Daylight (Bonus Track for other regions)

(Put this in the first post if you want )

I dunno whether it's mixed or not. If it isn't mixed the tracks are once again FUCKING EDITS ; and if it is mixed... well then it just sucks anyway 'cause an artist album isn't supposed to be mixed !

It's not unheard of to have a mixed album, gabriel and dresden for instance. I'll imagine most of the tracks will be edited down like they were for Right of Way, no amount of whinging will change that. If all the tracks were full length then Ferry and his label would lose out financially because next to no one would buy the single releases when for a little extra they can get the album.

As for the album itself, it'll be great to get high quality copies of I love you, Cubikated and L.E.F. I've already got 'Fire' and 'Watch out' neither of which are particularly great. Galaxia is awesome but i've already got a decent quality copy from his Passport to the Netherlands CD and Ferry plays it in basically every set. Beatiful sounds pretty good but i can't help thinking how similar it sounds to FB - Who's Knockin and hopefully the rest will be awesome tracks!

The only thing what could be remotely intresting is :

Prison Break Theme

"Prison Break" as in the Fox tv-series ???, cause the musiceditting is amazing in that show, the scene with Massive Attack - Teardrop placed on top of it, as featured in episode 20, is already a classic in my book

edit:Apparently Ferry made a remix of the Prison Break theme

Anyone who has a sample ?

Posted by Grrrrr on May-17-2006 13:48:

I've exceeded my bandwidth limits so i can't upload a sample to my webspace but i'll email it if you pm me your address

Probably not. If you have heard the Right of Way album it will probably be like that. Some songs will completely cut off before going to the next one or maybe fade away into the next track ever so slightly.

nice, ill deffo be picking this bad boy up

Posted by zoric on May-17-2006 14:54:

The majority of the tracks hasn't been played out and those who has been has probably been requested to be on the album.

I hope this is good, but haven't got any bigger expectations..

Sorry, but this is an incredibly evil way of trying to get people to buy 4 copies of the album.

How am I, living in the US, supposed to get any of the other versions?

Guru and Gangstarr kick ass - I'm looking forward to hearing "Junk" before passing judgment.
