http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...d=1140393959377

what games could i run on this? should i not even bother buying a game cause tis gonna suck or what?

Me first!

Toshiba....WISE investment IMO. They make killer laptops. You already got 1GB RAM which rocks, but go for broke and upgrade to 2GB. I think you can run some decent games on there.

Posted by TigerClaw on May-17-2006 22:46:

Well Judging from the integrated graphic chip this is using, You won't be able to run the high end games like Halflife 2 or Doom 3 on this thing, But maybe more less graphic intensive games on it.

what about battlefield 2? or is that pushing it? tigerpawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

there's always emulating PS1 games. Back when I had my powerhouse desktop, I tried the newer games but always went back to the playstation 1 RPGs and fighting games. All i ever really do these days is pick apart the SNES games.

shared video memory ftl. i'm not a big fan of celeron either. i doubt it'll play any of the crazy games like what tigerclaw said but i'd figure it would play battlefield 2. with all the graphic settings turned to low. and a lower resolution.

Your bf2 experience will be horrible, if it will even run. BF2 is a much more demanding game than HL2 or Doom3. If you get a labtop and want to game you need a graphics card. I have the generation before your labtop integrated graphics card and I can barely run a 3D game from 2001(NWN).

Ditto on the BF2. Laptops are trully horrible gaming machines. You can play lower end games, and some of the newer RTS games should run ok. What kinds of games are you looking to try?

HELL NO.

You might be able to get away running BF2 on some low to medium settings at like 800x600 or 1024x768.

The thing is, You need a laptop that has an Nvidia or ATI chip in order to run those high end games. But they are very very pricey and Dell or Alienware are the only companies that make these.

There are also some more less known companies that produce high end laptops and hardware but names escape me at the moment.

Look around, Mario.

Well, The fact to the matter is, The laptop must have either an ATI or Nvidia graphics chipset built in so that you can play games like BF2 on it. Another thing, These laptops use a touch pad and the left and right buttons to control the mouse pointer, But you can hook up a regular mouse to it via the USB ports.

Uh. Okee. Those other companies use said cards as well as many other good ones (Agea, for example).

As for the touch pads, I think we can safely assume that most gamers will buy an actual mouse to game.

You can play CounterStrike or Day Of Defeat, Those games use the original Halflife engine.

to get counterstrike... do i need half life? so i have to buy 2 games?

Counterstrike and Day Of Defeat can by purchased through digital distribution using Steam, Go to www.steampowered.com and download the software, You then signup for an account to it, Its free, Once you are signed in, With the program running, You can buy any of the games that are available thru Steam and it will download the full game onto your computer directly, And when ever you want to play any of the games you purchase, You start Steam and then you click on the game you want to play by looking through its servers to play online. But keep in mind, The laptop needs a good 3D graphics chip, If it doesn't have an ATI or Nvidia chip, Then your SOL. Those cheap laptops are not built for gaming, They use an integrated chip for the video and it takes up some of the system memory, They can't do 3D graphics, Only 2D graphics. Its only good for old RTS games like Starcraft.

Call Of Duty is a team game. When you play the game, most of the missions are done with other soldiers as a team. If you play online then you will always play in teams. It's tons of fun and you won't regret buying that game. By the way it will work on your laptop.

It would as long as the laptop has either an ATI or Nvidia Graphics chip, If it has some kind of integrated intel graphics chip, Forget about it.
