A tersely phrased statement of a truth or opinion; an adage.
A brief statement of a principle.

So we think we're all smart, learned people - so here is a chance to contribute to the collective knowledge of the world with a succinct aphorism (they can either be your own or someone else's that you feel to be interesting, meaningful, important or amusing).
