No more wearing down vinyl!! Laser meets vinyl

Laser Turntable offers the Vinyl Solution

If you’re one of those folks who believes that no audio medium has ever improved on the vinyl LP, you’ll want to know about ELP’s Laser Turntable. Yes, it plays records, but with a laser instead of a needle, so it won’t cause damage or deterioration to your moldy oldies. And, because there is no needle making contact with the grooves, it delivers unaltered sound that’s as close to the original recording as you’re likely to get. If you can let go of your prejudice against CDs and the like, you might even be happy to hear it comes with a remote that lets you pause and advance the record. But you better really love analog sound, because the Laser Turntable will set you back $15,000.

Thats old.
It would suck because whats the point since your not getting that "vinyl feel" or vesatility and probably not the sound either.
I doubt this technology will ever be usefull.
Ok maybe oneday but not anytime soon enough.

Actually, I don't think this is made for DJ's you know. More for guys who couldn't let go of there vinyl collection from the 60's and 70's and still have them somewhere lying around collecting dust.

Posted by Seakr on May-20-2006 19:14:

i'm sure by the time the patent for that technology expires, we'll all be very old. im sure our grandchildren dj's will be bumpin with the "shure Laser 99x"

I'm not surprised they can suck money out of some audiophiles. Most of them are doctors/ lawyers etc (not all I know). Some even believe its worth paying more for 'directional' wire. It is meant to give better quality sound, but make ssure you hook it up so the current flows in thr 'right ' direction. FOOLS!
