Damn: 85. Marco V I still think he should stay higher

Posted by Werewolf on Feb-08-2002 21:19:

marco v. @ 85 ????

commercial top 100...

Posted by PVD_S11DJ on Feb-08-2002 21:23:

Gotta remember though... that list is a list of Djs that play all different sorts of dance music. Its not a strictly trance-based list. So, obviously someone like Fatboy Slim, who's not a trance DJ, is going to rank higher than someone like MarcoV -- even though Marco is much better in the minds of tranceaddicts Hes just not as popular in the minds of the typical dance-music fan.

try the DJ list top 100. I think the website is www.the-djlist.com but I'm probably wrong. There is a poll and Tiesto was third with like 10000 votes, with Oakenfold being 1st and PvD at Number 2?

Posted by breakaholic on Feb-08-2002 21:28:

And what the hell is BT doing at that list . Transeau himself has said that he don't even know how to mix and second I ever have heard any of BT mixes or seen ones. At lives he usually just plays synths.

Or Am I just talkin' bullshit here

And where the hell is Orkidea

btw. this must have been discussed earlier

Fatboyslim is more skilled and is more technicality than marcoV imo.

i just wanna know, first of all, how they got this list.. it could be opinions, it could be a poll, it could be something else... maybe aliens sent it down to us. Anyways, the point is that if its a poll or something similar the DJs that should (in our minds) be higher, are not up there because either they are not known or the polls were open to Americans, in which case a lot of more bigger name DJs got votes (because we dont know as many names here, there isnt the same exposure.)

I dont agree with a lot of that, but whatever, its just a poll, theyre all good in reality. just look at them next to me for instance.. HAHAHHAHAHA

cheers

people from all over the world could vote through internet for weeks.
You had to name your top 10 & thats it.
But I dont agree with it, too.
Sasha did nothing last year & Marco V shold be in top20 & who the hell voted on Gigi D'Agostino???? he is not even a dj

yes BT can't mix for shiet! but he does 1 hell of a LIVE PA! i seen him LIVE he is insane i think for a LIVE PA he is by far the best. ARMIN SHOULD BE HIGHER THAN THAT!

It's a readers poll which was voted for by the readers of DJ magazine back in Sept/Oct last year.

You were able to vote on the net but I wouldn't imagine many Americans voted because I don't think you guys in the USA get DJ mag, it's British. It's an OK read but it's got nothing for TA's really, it's heavily biased towards house and prog.

I certainly wouldn't be losing too much sleep over what DJ mag readers think are the world's best

Posted by breakaholic on Feb-10-2002 19:41:

I've understood that Sasha has been very busy working with his forthcoming album and hasn't done that many gigs in past few years. But he sure is one of the greatest dj;s, if not even the best.

Damn, I wonder when BT is coming to Finland. I've seen pics of his live PA:s, looks absolutely great.
