Kicking the caffiene habit

I think I'm finally kicking the habit.

I have 2-3 cups a day during work but always crash when it wears off and I hate it.

Last time I tried to kick the habit I caved on the 4th day and had a delicious latte.

I am now on day 5 of the current caffiene free run. Let's hope it lasts.

Anyone else drop caffiene?

this thread needs more linkin park:

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

[Bridge:]
I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Tonight

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I had no options left again

[Bridge:]
I dont want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realize
That I'm the one confused

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Tonight

[Bridge:]
I'll paint it on the walls
'Cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends

[Chorus:]
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
But now I have some clarity
to show you what I mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So, I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit
Im breaking the habit
Tonight

I was tempted by a cup of homemade masala chai yesterday but fought it.

My brain feels a lot more clear now, rather than always having either a caffiene buzz or a comedown feeling. What's wierd is that after doing all sorts of other "drugs" you come to see "normal" things that affect your mind (like coffee) in a similar light. That's part of the reason I'm trying to quit. It's been years since my brain wasn't wired on one substance or another.

nah could never do that. drinking coke as we speak. mmm

Posted by Blake613 on May-21-2006 20:01:

I quit it. I was drinking 2-3 cokes/coffee a day just to keep myself awake. I quit cold turkey and had a horrible headache for about 4 days and was a bitch to everyone. Now I only drink a cup of tea here and there and never have a soft drink with my meals.

Best way to quit an addiction is to slowly wean yourself off of it instead of going cold turkey.

Over the weekend felt like I couldn't really focus, so I caved yesterday (day six) and had a cup of tea in the afternoon around 4:30 pm. I was sooo wired the rest of the evening and couldn't sleep till 3am.

That's it. I'm back off the caffiene. Starting .... now.

Actually, I've read in many places that coffee contains more anti-oxidents and helps prevent various cancers, more so than tea. It also helps you loose fat if you drink it before working out. This is ofcourse, if you drink it black, not by getting a mocha or some ridiculous surgur drink with barley any coffee.

I got off caffeine cold turkey. You just have to say that you arent going to drink it any more.

I was at the point where I had 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning (i really never warmed up to the taste) and a coke during the day, one with lunch and one with dinner.

I just didnt like the way it made me feel so I quit drinking it other than the occansional jack and coke

Call me shallow, but I quit drinking coffee because I didn't want my teeth to become stained. I drank it black. I'm sure one of the reasons besides that caffeine jolt was the strong, bold taste. Now I'm addicted to 100% unsweeted Cranberry juice. It can be hard to find, but try your organic section, which means it can be pricey. It'll knock you off your feet. 20x that of espresso, plus its great for you.

Maybe I am misreading here, but does this mean that cranberry juice contains caffeine? I was not aware of that!

i chew on raw onions to replace that kick coffee used to give me.

Noooo nooo. It's powerful! I was stating that I thought that's one the reasons I loved coffee so much.

hahahh shutup punkette. Try it.

i only have one small cup in the morning and i usually do half and half with decaf and regular. then i make sure to drink at least 2 cups of water the rest of the day.

oh and estella, just get those crest whitening strips. they actually really work. i bought a box and after using them just 3 times in a row, i could see a difference. the only thing that sucks is they make your teeth a little sensitive, but that's why you gotta just break it up and not do the whole box right in a row.

I quit caffine cold turkey in January. Its really hard for about5-7 days, you feel tired, cranky, get headaches....after you start to sleep better, more chilled out, you can imagination tends to work alot better. I can almost literally jump out of bed in the mornings now.
All i drink is Green tea or fruit teas with no caffine. Makes you feel really good. I find green tea brewed straight from the leaves is like 2 cups of coffee, but its more refreshing rather than a buzz.

i can only drink sweetened cranberry juice, but then that negates the health aspect. the best way to avoid caffine is simple but not easily done

1. get 8hrs sleep.
2. exercise every day.
3. drink penty of water
4. watch pr0n
