It's time to switch things up again. Returning to the harder Progressive sound, these nine tracks I present to you are nothing short of brutal and nasty. Some can even perhaps be described as hauntingly beautiful. This guest mix was recorded for Tony Estrada's show Babylon on FriskyRadio.com, and was aired on May 17 2006. Frisky was recently nominated for Best Internet Dance Radio Station at WMC 2006, congrats guys!
The set starts off with the hair-raising Fuzzy Hair Remix of Junkie XL's Today, the first single off his brand new album. Up next is the dancefloor-mangling Satoshi Tomiie 3D Dub of Lover by Chab. The mix rounds out with two of my favorite productions in recent months, SQAP by Sean Quinn & Andy Page, and the Luke Chable Remix of Union Jack's classic Two Full Moons And A Trout. Other highlights include the relatively obscure track Ikimasu by Section 9 and the Gene Carbonnell Remix of Mara's track from 1999.
9/10
This is not my type of music, but you did a great job with this set. Your mixing is impeccable and the flow is unnoticeable. Yet the build is still slow to develop itself. With every track you barely increase the energy level after each track. In your case it wasnt that big of a deal because I didnt fall asleep but in some sets you can wear a person out if its all on one level. Overall nice job and as a rule of thumb with shorter sets build fast and longer sets build slow. That keeps people on their toes and prevents boredom.
Thanks for the honest feedback, stevie. A 9/10 is still good! You're right, this probably isn't my best set ever but the tracks will probably appeal to some people. I just finished recording my summer promo, which is smooth and melodic. I'll keep you updated because I think you'll like it.
