May 2006 mix - DJ Metatron - Prefrontal Cortext [electro, tech, trance]

May 2006 Mix

(right-click, save-as)

Alright I went off the deep end this time, heh. I went off a very differen't deep end this time; you could say. And it was fun. I was bored with the current prog trance and wanted to do something different.I wouldn't describe myself as a tech-head, and by no means is this a "tech mix". But it's considerably more 'techy' than anything I've done before. It all started with my love for Vitalic, especially Repair Machines. Then I pretty much just had fun and experimented. That's what I always do of course but this time the result came out quite unlike anything I've done. Starting out at 142 BPM I inject you with the life-blood that is Vitalic, then I kick your mind around with Marco's Thunderdub of False Light. That track is a killer and a great bridge for some real tech-type grooves. From this point I wanted to take you far out into the void with the crescendo of Das Glockenspiel. I wanted use fast moving tracks that had a 'hollow' and 'spacey' feel to their breaks. And the Humate Remix of Das Glockenspiel is the utlimate example of this feeling. I probably haven't described it too well so just listen to that track and you will know what I mean. Then from this point I pick it up and move towards the frontal cortex with some great trance stormers (Integrate acts as a ramp for this). Hopefully by this point these tracks' awesome qualities are even more rewarding at this point in the mix. You've been drug across the desert and across the barren wastelands and are treated with a lush oasis of trance bliss. Heh, I can be a little too into this sometimes . Anyway, enjoy the mix and have some fun with it. I know I did.

Hey COngratulatiosn Metatron, this is a great set

It was better than I expected, beacuse this is not your main style and as an experiment it should be "good", but I was surprise by your mixing skills in this style, you did it like a Techno Master.

the first track is so cool, I really liker that, good progression overalla and great flow.

Great Mixing, Thanks =)

I prefer the second half as well, some brilliant stuff in there.

Posted by d-kristopherre on May-29-2006 16:50:

easily my favorite set ive heard from you...

and i, like you, prefer the beginning. just a little deeper. a little more for the head to enjoy...

metatron - you have never let me down yet. thank you. cant wait for the next go-around.

wow, thanks Pepa . glad you enjoyed. so awesome that you like that first track; it's pretty differen't and some of the folx i've talked to say it took a few listens to that track to like it. but i think it's dope and as an opener it works nicely esp. for this kind of set. it reminds me a bit like an alarm.

cheers, thanks for checking it out.

yeah, don't get me wrong those are some killer tracks there towards the end. i'm just happier with the transitions and the over all effect of the first half. thanks, for the comment TOR.

awesomethanks!! glad you can dig. i as well can't wait for your next deep house joint.

btw cue is up..

edit: also i had a problem burning the que this time for some reason. i reformatted recently and am using a new install of nero so that may have caused it. basically it wouldn't burn unless i changed the name of the file in the 3rd line of the cue to have underscores "_" instead of spaces and changing the name of the mp3 as well. if you have trouble with the cue this fix should work.

Thumbs up

I enjoyed the mix after when hit it the 15 min mark. Was tight!

This set is unbelievable its proves you can touch any genre and turn it into gold. Your mixing is solid as rock, when you hit the 2nd transition, i opened my eyes to see if i was in a different planet . This is my fav mix from you, its a unique blend of Electro and Tech-Trance. In the middle of your mix when you added that classic, I was blown away. Keep up the good work, and thanks for this awsome masterpiece.

Holy Shit! I didn't even know I liked this kind of crazy Tech/Trance anymore!

Got this jammin' right now while I get ready for my day - Really diggin' it so far, especially as a lot of what I've heard from you so far I'd classify as more "prog."

For me, it's a nice change of pace as I'm pretty much exclusively listen to House/Techno right now - Will be back with some more thoughts when i've had the chance to get through the whole thing, but for the moment it's getting from me.

Be Cool! This is what I'm talking about!

9/10
I havent listened to you since your Lustral sets because frankly every set you put out after that wasnt up my alley in terms of taste even though the quality is always high. This set; on the other hand, is obviously a new pace from you I couldnt pass up. Now to the music, as much as I dislike False Light it was refreshing to hear a remix I havent heard of versus the same version I hear in tons of other sets. Also it wasnt until track 3 where I really started to feel the intensity and the escalating build for every track thereafter. Your track selection is top notch and quite a learning experience for me. Ive got to say one of my favorite tracks out of this set had to be Schiller - Das Glockenspiel. In addition, there are a lot tunes whose remixes Ive never bumped into before as well as some underrated unknowns.

Moving on, the mixing is obviously flawless and kind of pointless to review on my part because you have that down to a science. Overall, you truly had me dancing with this set so thanks again for a great share and I hope you continue to keep those high standards for track selection. Consider this a keeper in my hard drive for the long run.

Tell me about it, I feel the same way. It was a struggle to find some new tuneage, but the music is there. You just got to dig deep past all the crap tracks.

Wow man, thanks. I don't think I can touch any genre, but when I'm inspired I can do something with it. And really at that time if you asked my to do a progressive trance mix it would probably come out lackluster as I wasn't interested in that at the moment. Just what ever I feel like doing I do it. Anyway to get a comment like this from you means a lot thanks.

Nice man, thanks for downloadin. I've listened to your Glamorama set twice now, it's really top notch.

Heh, you know I didn't realize I liked this stuff either when I started out I just felt compeled to do it because it was sounding so cool to me. I normally can't handle pure tech mixes really, I'd even say that techno is the one genre of EDM that is furthest from my tastes! But I just came across some tracks and messed around and came out with something interesting. Anyway thanks for listening, let me know what you thought of the rest. It get's pretty trancey towards the end so you may not like that as much.

Cheers

Yeah, I really hit a slump with the progressive stuff for a while but recently I've come across some interesting stuff and am working on something closer to my melodic roots. That False Light mix is a stormer huh? Damn that get's my head rollin.

Thanks a ton for your deep input and nice review. I realize you like the more intense trance. Visceral is what I like to call it. I've listened to your recent progressive set though and I'd say it's quite far from that. Let's just say I was suprised to hear what I did. I'll give you a review shortly.

Posted by JasonThomas on Jun-07-2006 23:39:

Thought I'd give this another bump before I post my new mix. It should be ready in a day or two. Going to be closer to my normal melodic style. Thanks again for everyones comments on this.
