tyler c - simplicity
hey guys.
been a while since i've posted anything on here. this is my latest solo trance effort. i've been doing a lot of electroey/house stuff lately, so i wanted to try to get back into some bigger trance.
theres nothing particularly mind blowing about this one. i'm just trying to work on my production techniques and make everything sound cleaner. theres a little breakbeat section in the middle but i may just get rid of it for the sake of length. if i keep it i'll spend a lot more time with chops/stutters/fills, so don't mind the simplicity of it.
any comments are appreciated.

hey tyler, i quite enjoyed this peice by you.. one thing i found was perhaps the strings that come in at the break which you later gate sound a little bit harsh and gritty.. dont know if that was the desired effect.. but thatd probably be my only issue.. great job though man, definately does sound clean so you achieved what you set out for
cheers mate
You've still got a bit of that housey electro feel, but it makes it a bit more fun.
That one pedal hat in the break beat sounds a bit out of place, and jumps out a bit too much for my tastes.
Good stuff going on here. This track has a very nice groove.
thanks guys
Hey Tyler
great sounding clip, bassline is great, everything seems to be well placed in the mix...perhaps it's compressed a little too much...at the breakdown - nice pads, perhaps the bass string could be a bit louder, help fill the sound out. Breakbeat is top notch as usual. Sort of miss some sort of climax after the breakdown, but the groove is excellent.
Keep it up man
Ricky
thanks ricky, glad you liked it
i think youre right on the bass in the pads section, it could use a little more low end there.
anyone else??
yo, you already know what i think, prime example of less = more... nicely done
[hijack] when did you start signing tracks to aphrodisio?! [/hijack]
Really nice sound
I think i can hear the housey influence
- as already mentioned - nice groove!
Nice break but that pad @3:40 should have more low-end - its sounding a bit cheesy to me...
Keep up the good work!
cheers,
S-Tune
Thnx for the share
Really nice
Have a great weekend
thanks guys
gonna polish this one up this weekend. i'll add a bass pad to the saw section and bring that pedal hat down. i think i'm gonna work on a couple of the other synths as well.
Hey Tyler,
that's a great song, I loved every part of it. Maybe I can agree with the bass line to be a little bit louder to energyze the song but the bassline is excellent. Great work man. I dont think there's nothing wrong with the breaks, for me it sounds ok, it's clean, it has feeling and very technical too. Keep it up Tyler.
There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.......I do kind of enjoy the house compressed feel. I have a lot of technical questions because a lot of this sound is the direction I would love to go more. Very clean sounding, and that up-beat synth lead really gets the adrenaline going. GREAT hi-hats in the house beat.
Also, for the record...anytime anyone does a breakbeat section in a trance tune...more power to ya. Breakbeat is my #1 and trance is basically my 2nd #1, haha. Doesn't make any sense. Oh well. :P Keep it up bro. May I ask you technical questions sometime?
I like how you handle the main lead that comes in during the break, so clean when you start the sidechaincompression on it
(dunno if it's how you've done it or if it's just trigered by an LFO but the effect sounds like it's been sidechaincompressed anyway
)
I like the sound overall, the mixing is straightforward and clean, not to much going on in the whole picture etc.
as you say it's not a mindblowing tune but it's nice to listen to, a perfect fillertrack
excellent production quality and dynamics, the whole track has personality.. the strings are excellent and the breakbeat is very fine.. i like the way the strings kinda leads to nothing, and just goes back to the beat.. top notch stuff..
thanks a lot guys!
i hate calling my own tracks filler, but really that's what it is. glad it can be appreciated as such.
Arudius - feel free to contact me if you have any questions man, i'll definitely try to help you out.
vizay - well, i hate calling it sidechain compressing because i'm not actually using a compressor in there anywhere. it's done by an inverted peak controller on the kick. i typed up a tutorial on how to do it that you should be able to find if you do a search. i htink the title is 'how to sidechain in fl' or something like that.
i spent a lot of time perfecting the swing on the hihats and some of the synths to keep the bouncey feel, and i think thats where the groove comes from that people are mentioning.
thanks again for the feedback
