Unknown tracks forum success rate?

Just wondering about this.

What sort of success rate do you get with your samples in the Unknown tracks forum? How many samples have you posted got IDed in the end? And how many have never been cracked?

My success rate is very low, probobly cos I post mostly J00f IDs. But I will say that having IDs in my sig is very helpful. Recent threads have picked up over 400 views, even though the bulk of tracks drop off the front page with about 40-70 views on average.

What kind of samples do you find get most success in being IDed? Putting the word "Trance" in a thread title attracts more people, and seems more successful... what do you think of all this?

Yeah I know I'm bored, but I've got tonnes of IDs going here (and loads more to put up), and its a bit frustrating that so, so few are getting cracked

Agree =/
Havent posted a lot in there, but none of the Digweed or Zabiela tracks i posted got IDed

id say about 50% of the trance stuff i post is getting id'd...[[ LINK REMOVED ]]
did'nt get id'd and it was a pretty known track back in the day(even played on MTV... )

still a great forum though

Since we are more into the psy side of trance Chris, its not easy for most of TA to help out.. I really think that we have a small % of psy listeners. You've been great with IDing any sets I need, but even then its because I forgot to check Isratrance.com first.. as for individual IDs, I am rarely in there.. *shame on me*

The reason less people are listening to your samples is simple - it is because you're not uploading them to TA - hence - no direct 'play' button in the forum thread list and no random display at the bottom of threads as a track that remains to be IDed.

+1 i only check the ones that are on ta. when i go there. which is rare.

Hadnt thought of that.

Might double upload some stuff from now on. Putfile is great as its higher quality than the samples here, but I'll upload another sample to TA too.

I've tried Isratrance, but they seem to be only into the pure psy stuff, I've had about a one in ten success rate over there with samples.

i once posted one track that i thought was absolutely massive. it was epic trance and sounded like the kinda tune people would know, but no one replied and i still don't know the name of the track!

maybe i should add a link to the thread on my sig then.

thanks for trying. i hope someone will ID it as i'd still buy it.

50% have gotten id'ed out of 4.

I don't visit that forum as much anymore though b/c it changed so you have to d/l the samples instead of using a media player and it's kind of a pain. I would like it if they changed it back myself.

Someone id this please:

http://www.hddweb.com/19084/unknown4.mp3

That track is from this thread.

80% Trance
50% Techno
10% House

I am satisfied with those results for my samples over the past years.

I think in the 90s. Then again I've posted like two or three tracks to be IDd.

Posted by ASFSE on Dec-02-2006 09:02:

i've had a 100% success rate for ID's with both house and trance.

Posted by shades_of_gray on Dec-02-2006 11:05:

Ive only had a few thats been id'ed. Some will just remain a mystery.
I had one id'ed on discogs which i was looking for 6 years.

Whats bugs me though, is when you id a track for someone and they dont say thanks!!

atm no success

Yeah often I try & ID tracks for people in there but I usually look at the threads with the genre in the title. I know nothing about house so it's a waste of my time plus it wastes a download slot on yousendit for someone who might be able to help

A rough idea of the year of release is also a help.

What's the point?

Anyway, I have posted a couple things myself and haven't got any ID's either. Was mostly minimal stuff from Hawtin set's. I mean, I don't think I'll ever be able to get a sample but I did know what set the tracks were from. Oh well, just some more smashing tunes I will never get a old of.

No one has been able to get this tune. :(

Posted by Floorfiller on Dec-05-2006 03:39:

yeah it's what swamper said...

that being the case i think i've always ended up doing tons of iding...i've only had a couple tracks id'd that i've put up...but that's alright...i just think it's fun to search for stuff hehe. haven't really gone in there much the last year or so though
