I'm just d/l'ing this now. Tracklist looks pretty juicy, and to end a set with an AP track, makes it look even sweeter.

I know I haven't heard tracks 5,6,7 & 8, but the rest looks like a set I'll really enjoy. I'll let you know what I thought after I've heard it a time or two.

Cheers from another PSYguy in Cowtown.

BTW, for anyone who has d/l'd and listened.. It would be great to get some feedback on the transistions, not so much the beatmatching, but more how to smooth them out.. I'm always disappointed how they sound after the fact, especially when I listen to other psy DJ mixes posted here.. I gotta be doing something different, because I know the transistion don't quite work the same as a uplifting, epic trance transistion would.

Cheers.

lovin this mix, specially the first track, which i had not heard before. in regards to how to make the mixes sound smoother, it's all about phrasing and knowing your tunes. psy can be tricky because it has so many places where it drops.. down.. to.. nothing, then SLAM!! if that isn't in the right spot on the other tune, it sounds like ass.

here is a good technique for a psy slam mix:

what you need to do is slowly fade in the incoming track, mostly just mids and highs, bass low. then, right when the incoming goes quiet before the SLAM, crank it's bass up, cut the volume down to zero on the outgoing track, while it's down, crank the bass down on the outgoing (even though yes, i know the volume is down). Then, when the SLAM part hits on the incoming, crank the outgoing back up.

this gives a very nice slap in the face to the dancefloor, and drives the energy through the roof.

that's of course just one way to do it, there are many others. i really like the style of mix you did for the first track into the second, that is another one.

cheers mate, really diggin the mix!

HAHA, i love the title of this mix. Some of those tracks look familiar. Give me a bit of time to check it out.

Sorry for not replying earlier, but I've been pretty busy with work, 2 jobs = good money, bad hours . My opinion will be "different" than most others, because I am well "different" by nature.

Your first transition into Hujaboy-Night Vision is very well done. No lull's, no builds, just a good flow of energy through the transition. Personally, I'd rather hear this in the middle of the set, these 2 don't work too well for me as openers.

Mixing into R U Normal was a bit rough. I don't think the style of track works here. It's got much more life than Night Vision, but also has much more "dead-air", which I don't like to hear in any mix (at the very beginning of the track). You lost the energy from the first 2 tracks because of that, and then get a much more energetic finish to the song.

Skunk is one (of many) great Alien Project tracks. I love the Southpark samples . The transition in sounded kind of awkward. like you missed the prime mixing spot or maybe the levels were off, or....

Create a Hippy is a sweet tune. The mix into it sounded really good and the mix into another kick-ass tune, by Fractal Glider, was great. I'm loving this track! Keep this in your playlist for sure!

Mixing into The Promiseland is mint. Too bad the song completely bored me. This song needs another few layers of sound. It's not my style, I guess.

Mix into MFG track was pretty sloppy sounding IMO. I was confused at the beginning, and not because I was high. This is a really good track! I think it would fit better beside Skunk though. I'd like to hear "For the future of man-kind" & "Mari-juana-juana-uana-uana..." side by side.

The mix into The Fifth Revelation was perfect except that you jumped in a bit too hard, maybe? I love this style!!! Fucking awesome track!

I love Xerox & Illumination, and this track is beautifully mixed in. Probably the best transition of the set and the best song of the set! Well done.

I really enjoyed this set. Half of the tracks I knew, and were very good. The new tracks to me, with the exception of the Shanti track, were also great.

I think you did a fine job in the mixing dep't too, but could have found a few better transition points on some of the blends.

Thanks for the set J

Cheers,

THC

THC... Thanks a bunch for the long thorough review. There's not many TA members that take the time to put down a solid review..

Keep your eyes peeled for my June Mix. Hopefully will come sooner than the May mix did.

Having listened to last april's promo a few times, I had to listen to this one. And it doesn't disapoint: first track is very simple but starts the mix pretty good. It got me interested anyways...a little tribal feel to it too!!

I am mainly a euphoric trance and harder trance, tech-trance listener...I keep wishing the transitions have more of a kicking bass to them...but this is smooooth!! Tracks are blended into eachother like butter on bread. I wouldn't even know in which genre to classify this mix in...and that's a good thing. lolol... Do it Do it Do it!!

Ok, there is a bit too much vocal from 0-36" for my taste. I dunno if its number 6 or 7...pretty damn good track there...I was seeing myself lie there on the beach back home for a moment...freaky shit!

the rest of the mix is ok, nice AP to close the deal. A good listen for everybody to enjoy.
