Thumbs up For All You Sasha Fans..

just came across this article, dunno if its been posted already but here's the link..

Billboard News on Sasha

apparently an organization called InstantLive is gonna record his set @ the closing party for Fundacion in L.A., and offer it for sale right after the show at the venue...pretty cool, hopefully more djs start doin this, it would be pretty sweet

*edit - itd be even sweeter if you got a copy of the set for free as a package with your ticket...one can dream..

Also of note, clubgoers that have experienced one of Sasha's Fundacion residencies in the past two years know that the DJ prides himself on merging rock sounds with contemporary dance/electronic beats to create on-the-spot remixes (mash-ups, if you will). Because of this, according to a statement, Instant Live will pre-license all the music in Sasha's record/CD crates, so that every artist, songwriter and label is properly compensated.

Record/CD Crates??? Sasha??? Rolling Stone needs to do some fact checking before printnig things like this.

This pre-licensing deal makes me wonder about how much of this is going to be pre-programmed, though.

Reminds me of some DJ groupie who was telling me she spilled her drink on Dave Dresden's CDs this year. I was like ummm...

Sasha's not there to sit and let a mix play. As a dj that removes all fun, essence, meaning & magic out of it and would be boring to do. Sasha has nothing to prove and is the last person who'd have to rely on a pre-recorded set to sound good. I could sit in a recording studio for a week straight and record my best set ever followed by the engineer tweaking any last bit to utmost perfection, and it would still be nowhere near as fun or worthwhile to play that disc at a party and pretend I'm doing something. Rather than doing what I should be able to do which is pull off a great set live and enjoy it far more than if everything was as perfect as it could possibly be coming from a pre-recorded set. I mean what could you actually think Sasha's afraid of when it comes to pulling off that mix live? He's the man.. and using ableton he doesn't even need to think about minor beatmatching imperfections that could affect anything.

Give the man some credit! Sasha is a pimp.

Sometimes it saddens me when I think posts could come across far more "point making" if they only used some grammar to make it actually make sense. As soon as I see run-on sentences or poor punctuation I automatically skip to the next post. Such a waste of thought...

Annyyywaaayyysss, looking forward to hearing his set. Don't really care about this "Instant Live" crap because it's practially the same thing as downloading a live set, but I hope since it's hyped Sasha will kill the floor.

My condolences & thoughts are with you.

alternately, I feel people can be taken so much more seriously if their names are not written in AlTeRnATinG caps & represented by a candy raver wearing fat pants & tie dye shirt!

It's an interesting concept, but with his recent sets lately I have little faith in the tracklist. But that's just me not digging his current style.

The best occurance of it so far for me has to have been Umphreys McGee here @ UWSP two years back.

They covered Snoop Dogg's "Ain't No Fun (If My Homies Can't Have None)" towards the end of the second set - An hour later we were back at home getting wrecked and jamming to the cover they had just performed

Instant Live is a pretty awesome thing IMO... I've bought many a show that way, best souveneir that there is to get from a concert...

Edit: But re-reading your post, I'm assuming you're talking about crowd tapers - An equally valuable resource for live sets especially in the hippie scene, and people have been doing that for 40+ years now...

True...but I pity those who would choose image over attitude/actions to determine the value of one's opinion. They also oviously lack humor and sarcasm.

Ah, kill a man for making a mistake. I never said I wasn't guilty either, it just irritates me. A couple of mistakes is understandable, I know how it is when the fingers do not cooperate with your thoughts. An entire post, however, is just asking for a skip.
