An Inconvenient Truth
has anyone seen the Al Gore documentary on global warming? saw it last night and its a must see for anyone that takes the future seriously, very informative and eye-opening, for more info... http://www.climatecrisis.net/ ...check it out and support PROGRESSION in this country and not some oil executives' pockets
Global warming is nothing new, its been known about for years and at first everyone was in denial or trying to hide it but now all of a sudden its a new major big deal. Dont you love the way the goverment works, they play shit off for a few years and then wait until all the drama has simmered down and they think that people wont care anymore and then they come out with the truth. By that time so much time has gone by that its somewhat out of peoples minds and they just shrug it off.
Anyway, documentaries bore me ZZzzzZZZZzzzZZZ. If I am interested enough in a topic I do my own research and seek out multiple sources and try to formulate my own opinion based on that.
i am Totally going to see this!! june 2, montclair.
thanx for the heads up (Y).
I'm deff gonna check this out next week. Thanks for the link.

thats not gonna help gore
BUSH: *waving arms and jumping up and down* HEY! Look over there! Look over there! What's that huge distraction that draws attention away from me? It's global warming! Global warming! Don't look at me! Don't pay attention to upcoming midterm elections and my ratings! Look over there! It's global warming!
you should see the movie because he describes how we can fix this and other issues regarding global warming.... theres so many advances in technology (cloning?!?!?!?!) that within the next 50 years, if we support movements and movies like this and bring awareness, more funding of research will come about, therefore more technology will be developed (where we NEED it.... not like cloning) that can fix the situation
im sure you will all gang up on me in a extream case of "group think" as these forums seem to be... but you have got to be kidding me... this is all speculation and opinion - he states in the begining of the trailer that "there is scientific consensious" about global warming... that is a complete lie... do you all still belive michael moores film was a "Documentary"
what does michael moore have to do nething with this? typical right-wing tactic to bring something totally unrelated to bash the current idea...
...he says there is consensus... and he PROVES it in the movie... they (not Gore, but actual other scientists) did a study of 1000 empirically reviewed journals/articles/essays about global warming, and 0 of them contradicted that global warming exists and is a threat... they did the same study of MEDIA-based and JOURNALIST articles on the subject, where 53% of them were against global warming.... ne sense of it being "speculation" is the sense given to u by the huge topic the media (owned by this administration and their friends) make of it
not to mention ur basing ur views on this simply from the trailer

you show me a movie going against the idea of global warming and ill go see it....
"and there are 1000 studies that show the exact opposite.. and you just flat out igore them cuz it dosen't fit with what you already belive to be fact"
....i didnt do the study and neither did Al Gore, but other scientists before him.... wheres the 1000, cos im sure you did the research
"and im not a "right winger" im an Ayan Rand "objectivist" and i base things on science, logic and fact - not feelings, opinion and relativism"
im not basing my view on this because i like Al Gore.... im basing it on SCIENCE, LOGIC, AND FACT (that you would realize IF YOU SAW THE MOVIE, WHICH YOU DIDNT SO THERES NOTHING FOR YOU TO ARGUE ABOUT IN THIS THREAD).... he goes one by one proving (science) that the carbon dioxide levels are RIDICULOUSLY HIGH (off the charts of what the studies of the past 100,000 years shows, literally more than 100 times more CO2 levels than even the last Heat and Ice age had)... he shows LOGIC in saying "duhhhh" (like you like to say), what do u expect with such shotty regulations and cars (the US has the lowest mileage standards in the world, even compared to China, that we cant even SELL our cars elsewhere because they dont comply with the laws elsewhere... California tried to raise standards and are facing a court battle with car companies that say they wont be able to sell their cars there and its not fair)....
....you cant argue over a movie YOU HAVENT SEEN so you go see the movie and ill go digging through those 1000 OTHER studies you speak about
People of the world ... I'm here to educate you about the single biggest threat to our planet. You see, there is something out there which threatens our very existence and may be the end of the human race as we know it. I'm talking of course about... global warming. Global warming is very real, and it most certainly exists.
I'm cereal.
Global warming doesn't care who you are or what you've done. Global warming simply wants to get you!
I'm super-cereal.
But have no fear, because I am here to save you! And someday, when the world is rid of global warming, everyone will say "Thank you, Al Gore. You're super awesome." The end.

because to accept the OTHER argument (the one your are proposing) is to sit back and do nothing... while our earth falls apart... im no where close to being a treehugger or nature boy... but sometimes you just need to step back and realize that the WORLD has accepted this as truth and we havent... and the fact that we havent is dangerous since we contribute to more than 30% of the problems that are the root of this, enough to send the situation over the cliff, even if the rest of the world does something to stop it
why is it so hard to believe that global warming exists?
probably the same reason why people didn't believe the holocaust actually happened and the same reason places like rwanda and liberia were ignored: media & propaganda

i remember bein told two very convincing arguments by two different professors in school as to why global warming exists and why its a complete fabrication...
but something must be off considering average temps in the polar regions have been increasing steadily, affecting wildlife and vegetation thats normally bred for colder temps..glaciers are melting at an accelerated rate and supposedly could raise sea levels if it continues at the same pace...but even so we'd probably all be dead and gone before the earth was really screwed..
maybe by the time it becomes a problem we can just ditch this planet and find us a shiny new one..
