So anyways, last night...
...I almost got arrested and taken down to the police station for accidentally walking out of the library with a magazine.
I had a bunch of papers and binders in my hands that I was working with and I was reading a copy of The Economist earlier. I put on my headphones and just grabbed all the papers and folders in my arms, and walked out. Apparently I set off the sensor alarm which I didn't hear because of headphones, I think I made about 20 feet down the hallway before being violently tackled to the ground from behind by 2 very burly men and having my arm twisted behind my back. Naturally all my crap went flying every which way.
I was escorted back to the library and after being a smart-ass to this rent-a-cop several times, I was handcuffed. Naturally I was quite pissed not only at being violently manhandled for what I thought was one of the stupidest things you could possibly be charged with, but I felt insulted that I had to put up with this asshole on a power trip who threatened to prosecute me over a library magazine. It took a lot of ass-kissing and pride-swallowing to wrest myself free of the manacles and being let go "with a warning".
So remember, the library takes these matters seriously.
P.S. I got a nice solid strip of rug burn on my face from being plowed face first into the carpet by these assbags when they tackled me.
welcome to the United States

I'd take the matter to that guy's supervisor or the library management. Seriously...the use of force not in self-defense is usually a major no-no for private security companies.

i did something similar once. i saw danny howells in new orleans and he ended with some underworld track. he asked the crowd what they wanted to hear as an encore and i yelled UNDERWORLD, he then said i just played Underworld you drunk and had the whole crowd boo me. it was traumatizing/
tony, the epitome of class.
haha I just remembered something similar I did, while under the umm, "influence". Last year, Marco V @ Vision. It was around 3am, I was hammered - I gave him a CD of mine and told him (bluntly) to play track 4. Umm yeah he no likey - he gave the CD back to me. LOL.

i don't think the security guy can do that. i've heard of places getting sued for using force against shoplifters.
