, even when the live act I do it's an hybrid
.
grab urself a 15" powerbook, bump it up to a gig of ram.
don't put a lot of shit on it ( porn)
and you got yourself a very stable operating system for live acts.
Get one of these lol. The performance specs are what you'd expect for rugged only laptop, pretty low, but who says you couldn't rip the guts out of it, and put in your own guts from another fancy laptop. That'd be a pretty cool looking laptop. A panasonic toughbook exterior with a Intel Mac/Fast PC on the inside.
I was just jokingly thinking about it once. Live gigs can get intense. And who wants a broken laptop. Amirite?
I really dislike soundblaster usb for sound quality, but that may not matter to you. I've yet to hear a good audio card in a laptop, but the audigy 2 zs looks promising.
As far as the laptop itself, I would recommend a sager laptop, it's the brand that alienware buys and rebrands for their laptops, so you save quite a bit by just buying straight from sager. They make a quality product and it's worth the price. You can also do some mobile production with it because they pack quite a bit of power.
Or you could just get a macbook, but those are on the pricey side.
yeah make sure the laptop is dedicated just for Music.
sound blaster? hmmmmm. Have You checked m-audio stuff?.
>> 1 Gig is essentially standard for production, and should see You through.
>> 2 Gig is safe
>> processor - well if You plan to use alot of vsts / effects, You will need quite a good processor, but most systems get through more than happily.
>> true, true
- don't buy any old laptop, make sure You know what's in it - components etc...DO NOT let sales talk get the better of You. I would personally visit a pro-audio specialist.
>> this is up to personal taste, but I think Ableton live 5 would be very nice running on a laptop.
Cheers!
Thanks guys, ur input it is higly apreciated!

No worries....just looking out for You!
The dangers in sales talk is that You may be tricked into a deal with a laptop which looks good, and for the first few weeks runs good, but then continuously crashes and locks up from then on:
and it has happened before. Where as, if You take time to choose Your gear, and make sure what Your getting fits Your needs / requirements from a company in this field, then You should not have much of / if any problem.
And if You want to do live acts / sets, then Ableton live 5 is for You. << Without promoting the product, visit Abletons website and double check for Yourself. I run live 5 and use it for production from start to finish, I absolutely love it!.
Have fun!
