Ipod question

I just bought ipod video and want to put some mixed cds.
I cant seem to play them seemlessly, and it always has gaps between tracks. does anybody know how to make them play without gaps??
I dont wanna put a cd as one big file either, it is inconvinient to skip tracks. thank you.
