lol, the answer was simpler than that...

Football = Soccer.

In USA, football = american football - kinda like rugby whereas regular football = soccer

even Pele played in the U.S, i remember that german, mattaius or something played as well. it doesnt mean anything, ronaldo will play when he is old and sucks and cant compete with the european level of football, thats why he says that.
