I always wait for these deals and got this off the RFD page in case any of you TOTA's were looking to buy an ipod or anything else for that matter:

Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) are having a Secret Thursday Event on June 1st, 2006 where you receive 20x the points when you spend $50 or more

Tell a friend and when they spend $50 or more you receive 1000 bonus points (up to a maximum of 100,000 points) and so on...

What do people usually buy on a SDM 20x events?
Well according to many previous RFD posts, iPod is the hottest product to buy in a 20X event. For new RFDers, here is how it works:

Regularly, you collect 10 Shoppers Optimum Points for every $1 you spend at Shoppers Drug Mart. On a 20x day you get 20 times the points i.e. 20�10 = 200 Shoppers Optimum Points for every $1 you spend

So for iPods you�ll approximately get (iPod prices slightly changed but I�m too lazy to recalculate):
- iPod Video 30GB costs $379 so you get 379 x 200 = 75800 points
- iPods Nano 4GB costs $299 so you get 299 x 200 = 59800 points
- iPods Nano 2GB costs $249 so you get 249 x 200 = 49800 points

So buying an iPod video on a 20x day would get you a discount of $150.
For the iPod Nano 4GB you get a discount of approximately $110.
For the iPod Nano 2GB you get a discount of approximately $80.

You�ll find it almost impossible to get a better deal on iPods if you want to buy it from a well known retailer.

NOTE: You CANNOT redeem the points immediately on the iPod itself.

So then what good is this unless you play to spend like $150 on condoms and stuff?

I live across from a shoppers, its beautiful, but expensive. Everytime I go in there for one thing, I come out with at least 3 others.

i go in for one thing and i come out with 20-30 others!!! terrible! i stopped going - it was an evening addiction of mine, after work i would always go there! it's amazing that if a women goes in there for tampon she is likely to come out with the entire store

Ipods Suck ass anyways - got one - had on e- broke one and that's that! they SUCK!

I feel your pain with that one Margs. I do it every time too. There is so much you can buy in them now. That store is a curse

An ipod was just one example but there's so many things at shoppers that you need for everyday. Me being a stay at home mom currently and all stocked up on diapers! They were on sale for 14.99 marked down from 21.99 and then I got 20x points on top of that so it's like I got em for 60%+ off...needless to say I bought all the stock they had so about 15 bags in total x 52 diapers each! LOL

All in all I spent around $400 and got $150 worth of points.

Not bad at all?! And yes the shoppers employees/customers thought I was one of those OCD moms!

Yea, what is UP with this store and girls/chicks.

An ex or mine, same way. So was my buddys ex...

It just seems like chicks can spend hours in this damn store... I dont get it... I cant even spend 5 mins in it half the time... and I'm a shopper... stick me in a mall and I'm there ALL DAY... or put me in a chapters, I'll NEVER leave!

Have you guys noticed that with all the SDM's you have to enter through the cosmetics section? So no matter what I walk in there for, I end up spending almost an hour looking through all those things Their new stores are very shoppable ...

and very bad for my wallet

YES.....you always have to walk in through the cosmetics...it's like they know that we'll stop and in our minds go "you know I could use some more mascara..."
