Dancing Dude This is not Toronto

This week on Pete Tong's essential selection show...
Mr. Kleinenberg highlighted Toronto's reaction to hearing - This is not Toronto (during This is not Miami) when he played here in April.

Worth a listen ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/petetong/

His interview is around the 20:55 mark.

He does mention that they will be updating the song with each city he visits. Too bad he did not have This is Toronto when he was here.

To date I have heard - This is Miami, This is not Miami, This is Ibiza (personal fav) and This is London.

All around great song - great for crowd reaction and interaction.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this song. So dirty and so awesome. Have had the privledge of hearing MO drop it twice so far. Everytime it comes on in my car i start rocking out to it

probably one of the lamest / worst songs ive heard out this year

Posted by angelgirl on Jun-03-2006 14:48:

^^^ I agree. weak song for the commercial crowd. Everyone at the show in April was like "Oh god, I hope he plays it' and "Do you think he is going to play it?". DUH. OF course he is. The real missed opportunity by Sander was that although the track may have have said "This is not Toronto" ...if you are playing a video along side a track where everyone is waiting to hear "THIS IS NOT TORONTO " you could atleast take the few minutes to edit the video to do the same. I waited for it...it never appeared.

I enjoyed Sander's set but it was predictable... nothing exciting and new for me. Frankly I was more excited by the set Burridge played before Sander. The best part of a live show for me these days is getting to hear the stuff you haven't heard yet or haven't heard for the umpteenth. Wouldn't classify this song anywhere near real 'dirty'.

agreed

meh

Posted by Jayx1 on Jun-03-2006 15:20:

this is why i dont like djs like tiesto, armin ban buuren, etc...

too much pop fluff and not enough new stuff.

A good international dj set is 3/4 new fresh music, and 1/4 classics and hits IMO.

We arent paying these guys big bucks to hear tracks we already have on our MP3s.

so much hype for something so awful and forgettable.

Actually it does...it says that in the song regularly. 2nd verse I believe.

yes thats right, i herd MO play it at guv

BUT IT DIDN'T SAY "This is not Toronto", also the song went on for a good 10 minutes, and then MO kept mixing "This is not whatever.." crap into other songs for the next 10 minutes. What i really wanted to hear is "This is not MISSISSAGUA", id be like yeah damn right its not.

Posted by geroin on Jun-03-2006 18:27:

who cares what MO dropped? we're talking about sander k playing it at decandence.....

I remember that...it was annoying how he dragged it on for so long. But in the real Sander K version it does say "This is not Toronto"

YES! This is bang on!

I don't pay money to hear tracks I already own or have heard played every weekend for the last 6 months.

Give me something new, give me something I don't know.

A night where I can't idenfity the majority of the tracklist is a very good night indeed.

agreed. but it's also nice to hear a few of your all time favs u know

hence a combination of both works best for me!

there is a limit to as how many tracks you'd remember from a specific night if you never heard of them before u know what i mean. if you go through a set not recognizing one song, you will only remember a maximum of 5-10 tracks from that night, can't remember them all. but the ones that u know off your heart from the first beat, you'll remember them all!

if you were a tiesto fan and listened to the most recent tiesto sets, you'd have troubles identifying most songs. i know what you mean, but believe me, tiesto plays a lot of more known tracks for a certain crowd, but for another crowd he'd drop sets you wouldn't be able to recognize 2 songs!
