My first time outside what should i play?
Im a bedroom dj any advice?
It's your first time playing out?
If so, I suggest you find out what's usually played in that club and what the crowd there likes and play a style similar to that.
If I were you I'd do some recon and scout the club the night before. Get a feel of the atmosphere, the crowd, and what kind of DJs play there.
I havent played in a club.I will spin in front of 14-16 year olds.
^^ then play what you hear on the local radio station.... lol

Bring everything. Try your own style and see if it works. If no one's enjoying it, switch to something else.
Most 14 and 16 year old wont know mixing from there own ass.

I can tell you it can be very depressing playing trance to people who don't like it

well.. myself being 17... i know how it goes. the standard 14-16 crowd will not be that recieving of trance, but heres a few things you can do to meet things half way: being true to your style, but still keeping an age group that usually likes a fair share of cheese entertained....
my suggestion, and kind of a rule number one overall... play stuff that girls will like. you keep the girls there, then you keep the guys there, and thus, a whole crowd there. also, might even get yourself a phone number or two.
mix fast. play the main part of a song, and get the hell out. kids these days already have add and whatnot, so letting all 8:15 of a song play out might seem enjoyable for you, but my guess is that unless the crowd REALLY reacts to a song, mix out during the first breakdown.
play catchy/melodic stuff that you like. at this age, id say that a lot of kids associate "techno" with being kinda cheesy, melodic stuff that is just generalized as "techno". like.. "techno" remixes of popular songs. its good way to keep the girlies around, but still play stuff you like. spare the cheese though.
on the converse, DONT play long repetetive stuff. for instance... that booming techno track that might work well at a rave.... you know... the one where the only addition after the first 128 beats is a hi-hat on the 8th notes... probably wont go well with people looking to hear upbeat "clubby" stuff
actually.... i think that for any age group, the playing trance/techno remixes of songs is great. some electronic mixes of non-electronic songs are actually really REALLY good... and it certainly provides a common ground. you can like it for what it is, they can say "hey... this is a remix of ______... this is pretty cool". they can be funky, bangin, relaxed, or even on the "cheeky" side.... yeah. same goes for mash-ups. thats like... "cheeky" x 10!
and... when in doubt... play a little cheese. because cheesy as it may be.... you know you have songs that are guilty pleasures. play some cascada, grin and bear it, etc.... or... if cheese isnt your deal... play non-cheesy or.. less cheesy remixes of cheesy songs. like.. for instance, i once heard a really acidy remix of sandstorm. wasnt half bad....
edit: lol. just found 3 trance remixes of "the final countdown" on chemical records... you could get that, play it, and just kinda laugh to yourself. cept its a wee bit hardstyle-ish... and cheesy enough as an original. but see... guilty pleasure...
anyway... if i think of more, i'll add em. hope this helps.

When all else fails just get out the remixes, you dont have to play straight top40.

Just do your thing and play melodic uplifting trance with some cheesey tracks like love comes again and shivers added. And remixes of non-edm tracks is a good one too. If that still doesn't work then give up and play 50 cent
when i was that age, me and my friends liked house and trance (among other things). I would suggest not totally underestimating your audience.
It really pisses me off when people think the crowd (that i am part of) wants to hear cheese.
Once went to see a good house dj but because it was a college event he played commercial remix after commercial remix (like someone mentioned ) and he cleared out the place

the way i do it is if i cant play what i like i dont play at all. although places i would do i would know what the crowd likes.
i'm 17 as well and i've played for loads of crowds of kids my age.
all i can tell you is that they don't like trance. don't even bring any. the girls love funky/club house. it gets them horny and if you play enough of it you WILL GET LAID (it sounds like i'm trying to be funny but i'm actually quite serious 
). bring loads of that and try to get some house remixes of some current radio tracks. but that's really about as far as the EDM route goes with that type of crowd.
the answer i can give you is to bring some house tracks but mostly hip-hop. if you suck at mixing hip-hop, buy some remix services like Funkymix and Ultimix (they are designed to be so easy that your dog could mix with it).
oh, and the other thing is, especially when playing house, don't play the whole track. people in that age group DO NOT want to hear a 6-10 minute song. 5 minutes maximum per song. with hip-hop, it's best to only play the first one or two verses and then cut into something else, else people will get bored and people will leave the dancefloor.

Play a mixture of stuff, that should keep their attention. When kids like that, you probably aren't going to play stuff your deeply passionate about, but your not really playing for yourself now, your playing for them. So i'de play some trance, but not 100% trance. Start off with some slower stuff, maybe some R&B and hip hop, and then work your way into some dirty house music and some electro house, i'm sure they'd like that, even some Benny Benassi they'd like. Yeah his stuff is kind of irritating but they most likely would have heard stuff like "Satisfaction", there's some neat remixes of that too, esp the "Steve Murano Remix". Then play some uplifting and melodic trance, and maybe get a little techy too, just all out banging stuff to end it. Sounds pretty nice to me...yeah you should play stuff your passionate about, but you have to play to your audience...and this is the biggest difference it seems from being a bedroom DJ to being a mobile or club DJ (but if your at a club, you have more freedom esp if your at an EDM club, because people are older and most likely enjoy that kind of music).
Funny thing is though, I was at a school dance in high school and my junior and senior years they hired a student at my school who had DJ equipment to DJ our school parties, because it was cheaper. Well one of the first times he played, he played a bunch of r&b and hip hop and older pop stuff like Michael Jackson and Madonna and Britney and such, and then I was talking with him and asked him if he had any EDM and he had a few. So he put on a techno track, and it was pretty fast and banging and guess what...people stopped dancing. And this WAS pure dance music, with a fast, heavy beat..nice rhythm, and I was thinking "wtf???" 
so if that happens, f*ck it and play the slower stuff haha...
never change your style to suit certain crowds/venues. stick with your own and dont deter unless you like the stuff you re detering to.. otherwise why dj? just play your style and let em either love it or hate it...
i think if a crowd arent enjoying my set then they are in the wrong place not me. or the guy who booked me made a mistake...
