good read, thanks john.
I remember when me and my friend got pulled over in his MX-6 a couple summers ago. Body kit, lowered, rims. Got pulled over, then two other cops showed up after and went beside us and in front of us too.
He was trying to tell my friend that the only reason he has any such things, is for racing. He touched the tires, said they were warm, so we were probably street racing before. The compound of low pro tires it softer than regular tires, we were driving the car for like an hour before, and it was a warm night, but no, that had nothing to do with why they were warm. You had to be racing. We were stuck there for 40minutes, with the cops going over everything, and checking everything up on the computer in their cars, harrassing him about his car. My friend trying to tell him and explain to him that its just a hobby for us, doing stuff to change the look of our cars and such.
Its funny, when the cop was our age, alot of teenagers had muscle cars, with super powerful engines. We were in a 6cylinder car, weighing it down with more things that would actually make it slower, that just changes the look of the car, and the engine was stock.
You can be in a soccer mom van and street race, in some shit ass rust box, or a ferrari, it doesnt matter. How about you pull over the guy thats riding my ass so close, I cant even see his headlights, because hes pissed that i'm doing the speedlimit! Why dont you get the guy thats going in and out of traffic, doing 20KM/H over the speedlimit, then blowing thur a red light cause hes late for something? no no, you cant do that, pull over the guy thats doing the speed limit, his car looks "modified".
I also just got pulled over last month. Doing the speed limit totally. He pulls me over, asks for my licence and insurance crap "do you know why I pulled you over?" me "nope", *stands back and looks at the back of my car* "is that an aftermarket muffler?" me "I guess so, I bought it in a store when I was in grade 11" him "Have you heard of project erase?" me "nope" him "well sorry daniel, but i'm going to have to take up some of your time tonight. i'm going to need you to follow me to (says some name of some plaza around the area)." apparently at the plaza, they have ministry of environment people to check your emmissions and stuff, ministry of transportation people to check crap on your car, and probably some more. So after following the cop for awhile, were stopped at a light. the light turns green, the cop gets out of his car, comes up to mine, says "i'm going to let you off tonight, have a good night", gives me my licence and stuff back, then books it, all in the middle of traffic lol. I have a fuckin 1998 chevy cavalier. I put that muffler and crap on my car when I was in grade 11 cause I thought I was cool. My car is totally stock. I was on my way to get another friend, then we were going to decadence at guv! I was doing the speed limit. Like give me a fuckin break.
I agree withthis article completly. Cops shouldnt harass people in modified cars who are obeying the law. But i do agree with the new changes in the criminal code for street racing. We do have to punish those who break the law.

I kid, I kid.
I still dont agree with racing becomign a criminal offence. You already get in big trouble if you get a ticket for that anyways.
lol 3 yrs old. thats not old. ive had my car for almost 6 yrs now.
but Ive never been harassed. Something about coupes that are more low key then hatches(civics). But yeah kenzie makes great points!
