| Originally posted by Floorwhore Billy brought a circuit/tribal style, with a nice balance of classic re-works, and new material/remixes. He pitched things up later in his set, bouncing along at 130bpm of chuggy tribal.... and by the end of the night, he had brought out his catalog of clasics, dating back to as early as '98. He did a lot of on the spot re-works, looping samples, and layering various accapellas (i have never seen a dj with a more organized collection of tunes.) |

Billy Carroll did not disappoint. I thought that he spun the dirtiest set at Sonic so far and I had an outstanding night from start to end.
I have a simple philosophy when it comes to clubbing and that's trust the DJ, open your soul to him & enjoy the trip he sends you on. This Saturday was no different and Billy's journey was more than memorable. His set was all the things I love in house music -- dark, deep & dirty. If I had to compare, I would say his sound was a housier version of Behrouz. Needless to say, I danced my @ss off! (lost 5 lbs!)
To date, each night at Sonic has provided a different memory all incredible in their own way.
Q: Floorwhore, is a double-header required this w/e in order to maintain our 1000 batting average or will one of the two events suffice? (I don't think my body can take a 10 lb. drop!)
Hey Joe...good review...not my thoughts at all...but we have to respect each others opinions...
As for this weekend...I personally think we should only need one night out of two to keep our record intact....to me it's about how many weeks in a row...not how many nights...
There, that's my opinion...bring on the judge in 5...4..3..2..1...
Cue Floorwhore....

| Originally posted by Floorwhore to keep your batting average at 1000, you need both nights under your belt..... but daniel is right - show up for one, and you still have the week streak intact (which is still bloody impressive imo) |

So Jeff....are we getting an appeal of your earlier ruling....

That's better!
Hard to imagine a fag asking for an appeal for NOT going to the Sonic gay night...
A very different night. By 7 am I would say the music got really good WOW. As for before that I don't think I spent more than 10 minutes on the dance floor at a time, too cyclic. It's too bad that the hard beats were not heard by all. This would be a very different review had I not hung in there until the end.
Are you picking on me Chris, because I did not stay until the end? LOL....
Not at all. If I would have left at 6 or 7, then I would have to say that it was not the best sounds and I would have a very different opinion of this DJ.
No, I think you are picking on me...
Hey babe...what do you want for dinner?
As far as first impressions go, I thought Billy Carroll kicked some serious ass on Saturday night... including mine!
Billy's set was definitely not for the meek or mild... or for someone looking for a happy-go-lucky night either. His set was a True Triple "D", Deep, Dark & Dirty, the sort of music that finds it's way deep into your mind & soul and makes you dance so hard you sometimes have to stop & wonder how you haven't dropped from a heart attack yet!
Yes, the baselines were pounding all night long, but these were only an underlay to many other highly structured layers(not to mention hypnotizing) being delivered at the same time. A really mature and technically sound set delivered by an obvious veteran in the afterhours scene.
I completely loved the vibe of this party... a great mix of like-minded music lovers all out to enjoy the intense & intelligent sounds of a really talented DJ. For me, these low key/low fuss parties are usually the best and this one was no exception!
Walking into this party, I didn't know who Billy Carroll was... walking out, it's a name I won't soon forget.
