Sick of the usual suspects

Come on in and give your opinion on the subject.

I find that I get so bored of the "usual" trance tracks these days. Now Im find my self looking more and more towards progressive and house sounds. But who to listen to.

Please post your recommendations on who to check out and which sets or productions to listen to.

Cheers

sets or productions?

Posted by RapidFire on Jun-05-2006 23:27:

Sander Kleinenberg and Sasha of old for all things progressive.

Posted by Orko on Jun-05-2006 23:30:

Yup, been heading more to the breaks scene these days.

Such a fresh sound! Such enthusiasm!

Posted by B-Good on Jun-05-2006 23:34:

With sounds from people like the shiloh brothers i can see why

Posted by all-nite-freak on Jun-05-2006 23:37:

progressive house....hell I did'nt realize they made anything good anymore because I never really listened to many sets, I have in the last 4 weeks and I've missed nothing. Minimal Tech house and boring minimal electro, with no nastiness is sweeping clubland. Hell even PvD's Colourfest set was awful.....ffs....what's happening...first Digweed plays shite, now PvD....

Breaks is on fire these days lots of fresh sounds & ideas, something that most trance tracks these days are starving for. Progressive house is also full of lots of great new stuff. Some great electro tunes as well to add some variety into the mix.
For some real enrichment though I recommend doing what I did.. start listening to Ozzy & Iron Maiden!
Fear of the Dark!!

Listen to J00f to start with.

Also try stuff like Son Kite, Jaia, Atmos, Antix, NASA and other artists like that. Progpsy stuff is what you need.

Hernan Cattaneo is what you need. At least that was what did it for me when i got sick of the "usual" trance tracks and more in to progressive house. Just try out any of his mix cds.
Renaissance Presents Sequential Mixed By Hernan Cattaneo
Renaissance The Master Series Volume 2 Mixed by Hernan Cattaneo
Perfecto Presents Hernan Cattaneo - South America

I'll agree with Chris. Go for progpsy. I too got bored of the prog stuff Sasha and Digweed started playing during the last couple of years. But there is LOVELY progpsy music out there which is flourushing atm.

Thats a song?

I usually do not keep up with individual songs, as I cannot remember the names, lol. I just keep up with sets, any recommendations? Like trancy breaks, no MCs. I listen to lots of Hybrid for these reasons.
