Unhappy the Last Days of ETN.fm? Maybe...

Mark Winston just posted a message of Will from ETN.fm HERE.

Would really be sad if that would be the end of ETN.fm...

pwn't.

ah well, They had some good shows, like Nik Harding's show. Damn di.fm killed etn it would seem.

Posted by Numidia on Jun-07-2006 02:57:

shit... that's awful. Fingers crossed they figure something out to keep it alive

Posted by Orko on Jun-07-2006 03:54:

I thought the idea was great, but just too many DJs had regular shows on there. It seemed as if a lot of people were playing the same thing.

They did do a good job of delivering high quality streams, to a specific market, and free too!

Best news for Trance Ive heard in years

No more bedroom DJ's who have 0 talent playing for themselves

Hopefully Party 107 or whatever will follow

I'd have to agree here, there is a huge oversaturation of certain forms of trance, while it's not a bad thing that people DJ etc, having way too many shows will always confuse things.

I wouldnt listen to Armin if he was playing a 12 hour set in my living room

God damn it, I am not going to flame but, ETN is the best station there is. Let DI give you crappy 96kbps stream, or let ETN give you near CD quality stream for free. You fucking cock sucker!!!

Posted by RJT on Jun-08-2006 03:36:

ETN did have a lot of shows that sounded similar, I'll give you that, but it was still a great station, and it was always free - They never asked for a damn thing from anyone outside of a donation.

Add to that that KT's show has been a cornerstone of my week for well over a year now and you've got one pretty bummed out kid.

I'll definitely miss ETN.fm, especially "Obsessions," if and when it goes. Mad respect to those guys for all they've done!

Posted by Tayfoon on Jun-08-2006 03:40:

Every internet radio is free

The thing about ETN is they gave ANYONE a show

ANYONE, people who mix on their computers, people who are nobodys etc etc

Why would anyone want to listen to that ?

Not high quality streams.

But whatever, if this is the thread you want to shit on today, go ahead.

OMFG

If I stop getting my monthly Haverlik fix I'm going to fucking SNAP

Their progressive station owned. I dont think Ive even listened to the trance one, so I could really care less about the status of trance.

ETN must stay.

Posted by E-vangelist on Jun-08-2006 15:39:

have you ever noticed how all the people hating on ETN are the ones with no idea what they're talking about? lol

like I've said a dozen times since my blog started getting posted all over the dam place, it's still a maybe. There's a reason there is a QUESTION MARK at the end folks!

We are and have always been a station wholly supported by our community, I've been this close to closing several times before and it's always worked out. If it's meant to be, something will happen again. I've got at least 1 promising lead but I went semi-public (never intended for Mark to go pasting my blog on every freaking dance forum on the planet) is because we're looking for another stream sponsor/donater.

If you're in a position to donate large amounts of bandwith so we can keep running, contact me via email I rarely check this site anymore, too many idiots like we've seen in this thread already who just flame and flame and I got sick of arguing with morons a long time ago. Arguing on the internet is like winning in the special olympics remember?

oh, and if we do wind up closing down ETN, do you honestly think all our great shows are just going to die? there are PLENTY of other great dance music stations on the net that I'm sure will be picking up the shows. I'll even be helping to facilitate.

and no, DI had nothing to do with this. DI wasn't our sponsor dummy :P

Posted by Numidia on Jun-08-2006 16:03:

ETN is crucial. Not sure why anyone would actually want it to go down. I hope everything gets worked out.

Posted by JMax on Jun-08-2006 16:15:

while the comment about bedroom djs is 100% true

ETN had a the same time great shows, and it was a very solid alternative as and trance radio

hope everything fgoes fine for them

(...)

Yes. And most of the serious criticism was related to the flood of bedroom djs and that all these DJs are playing (roughly) the same music. I for myself would think that:

- a higher degree of music diversity would be fine. just check what such a huge online community such as TA is listening to (look in the tracklistings forum)

(- two ETN channels (or even only one) might be better than three)

The latter point isn't as important as the first one. I myself hope that ETN will survive but for this reason I also want to show constructive criticism ...
