how much do you spend on vinyl per week/month?
figured this could be an interesting discussion.
currently i like to budget between $10-$30 a week on new records, of course willing to break that rule if really good stuff comes in..
what about everybody else?
it all depends if i really liked a single that week. in this week for example i didnt like any vinyl that released, and maybe other i will like 5 and buy em all. of course there are weeks that you buy records that are older.

Around 60-100 per week at the moment, so 300-400 a month. I've just received an order from HTFR, went to HMV and Global Grooves on Saturday, have two orders outstanding with CDZone, two with Amazon (CD's though). This weekend I'm buying just over 100 of stuff of a mate and I'm just about to do my weekleys at Juno!
ps. Yes I am skint!
I don't limit myself either. If I want something and I can't really afford it I'll bang it on a credit card and worry about paying it off later.
If there's one thing I've learnt from buying music, it's to not leave anything in the shop in the hope it'll still be there next week! I missed out on so much stuff when I was younger and poorer, having to decide between two cracking tracks 'cos I could only afford the one.
well, i just recently started buying stuff, have over 200 records, a lot of rare ones, and i spend a lot each week, dont want to think about numbers

I try to spend about $100 a week on vinyl...and if I see something old, I dont count it. so $100 a week on NEW vinyl + old songs that I have just come across
I better don't tell
here's another good question:
would you be wiolling to pay a premium for a record you might have missed out on the first time (and is now hard to find)?
answer for me: i have and will continue to do so.. if someone points out a great song that is 5 years old and i MUST have it.. dammit i WILL get it

Numpty that I am didn't listen to the Tiesto mix of Jan Johnson - Flesh until I heard it on Magik 7, by which time it was 8 odd from HTFR and out of stock everywhere else. I could have got it from HMV for 2.99 when it first came out! |
depends.. but on the month i buy allmost 50vinyls (+ / -)
damn some of you are pretty hardcore when it comes to buying vinyls. i've only started my own collection since late january and i've spent roughly $240 (canadian). oh wait, that doesn't average very low either...oh shit i better watch my budget
I average about 700 a month, depending on whats new.
for me it varies from week to week, it all depends on when i have time to go vinyl shopping.. i usually pick up about 10 records a month.. i know that seems low compared to the rest of you but its a lot for me seeing that i pay my own way for everything (including rent/car/food/bills/college).. i try to only by "must haves" if i am listening to something that is just "okay" then i can usually talk myself out of buying it w/o regrets later.. but sometimes i go crazy and come back from the vinyl shop w/ 10 tracks! sucks being in the U.S. because those damn imports are expensive

i try to buy from stores so i can listen to the track there.. when buying online sometimes you end up w/ some funky rmx's that aren't wat you wanted!
GeeZ guyz--heavy spenderz
I spend about $50 a month give or take $20
lets see last month i say about 200 or so... it all depends im currently trying to find all these oldies and those aren't always cheap
It's not about the quantity, it's about the quality... 5 years ago I bought everything that I though was ok... but most of these records I've never played. So what's the use of buying 'em all?
I usually buy 2 to 5 vinyls a week. Fortunately for me I got one of the best Recordstores near my school so I drop by once or twice a week. I have the oppurtunity to hear almost every promo, and then buy it a week later if I like it.
So I only get the stuff that I think is really good, and trust me, I'm a critic
So I don't buy a lot of vinyl, but that's not because of the money. If there's something I want, I'll get it. Don't care about the price...
By the way, I only use mailorder when I can't get what I want in a store.
Too much for me poor student
i started collecting vinyls like a monthe ago..and i spent over 300 bucks already...
