Abu Musab al-Zarqawi DEAD

Source

quote:
The killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is a "severe blow to al-Qaeda," U.S. President George W. Bush said Thursday while warning violence will continue in Iraq.

"Now Zarqawi has met his end and this violent man will never murder again," Bush said in the White House Rose Garden Thursday morning.

The leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq was killed with seven aides Wednesday evening during an air raid on a safehouse 50 kilometres northeast of Baghdad in the province of Diyala.

Bush praised the U.S and coalition forces for working tirelessly "to track down this brutal terrorist and put him out of business."

But Bush warned that despite his death, violence will continue in Iraq.

"We can expect the terrorists and insurgents to carry on without him," he said. "We can expect the sectarian violence to continue.

"Yet the ideology of terror has lost one of its most visible and aggressive leaders."

Bush said Zarqawi's death has dealt "a severe blow to al-Qaeda," hailing it as a "victory in the global war on terror."

He said it has given the new Iraqi government an opportunity to "turn the tide of this struggle."

Earlier, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said al-Zarqawi's death was a "strike against al-Qaeda in Iraq and a strike against al-Qaeda everywhere."

But the killings in Iraq will continue and many challenges remain, Blair warned.

Problem is that the US is just fighting the symptom of terrorism instead of the roots. al-Zarqawi is replaceable - he's the symbol. But this doesn't stop Al Qaeda, they'll find another symbol. First it was Bin Laden, then al-Zarqawi and there will be someone else soon.

Do you imply that US shoud start bombing every mosque where the sacred imams engage in indoctrinating the Muslim youth?

ummmmmmm.....NO? I don't know where you got that from. I was just pointing out that Zarqawi was a figurehead and a face to blame for the US.
