...on a thursday.

Dear Big- Name DJ,

Please come on the weekends. Weekday shows suck. At best we go into work the next day hungover, at worst we miss the show entirely. Why make us choose between job and music?

Thanks.
-Talbot

PS Im still real excited

Dear Talbot,

It is cheaper to bring me in on a weekday. Quit your bitching and come enjoy the show.

Yours Truly,
Big Name DJ

The DJs don't pick the date they are booked for, the promoters do. Like others aove me have said it's cheaper to bring them on weekends thus less of a risk for said promoter to lose money on the event. Just the nature of the business.

I know I know, its all promoters and business, but that still does not make the shows any easier to come to. The extra cost to get someone on the weekend should easily pay for itself in increased ticket/drink sales, assuming the promoter gets a large enough venue, and the DJ is popular enough (ex: ferry corsten may not draw enough people, oakenfold will). If finding enough money up front is the problem, then the promoters need to work harder at fundraising. If I had the interest in getting into the entertainment industry, i would definitely go to all lengths to book friday and saturday shows.

I will still go and enjoy it a lot, and I will still bitch about having to go to work the next day. feel free to flame me all you want.

Ferry will draw many more people than Oakenfold. i have seen them both and Oakenfold just does not have that presence anymore, the fire has burned out IMO.

While Ferry has always been more talented than Oakenfold..at least since I enterred the scene in 2000 (Oakey has never done anything for me), the truth of it is Oakenfold will still sell out a venue because his name still holds alot of hype with the mainstream edm market. These days, being a talented DJ has very little to do with being a marketable DJ..unfortunately.

I completely agree that oakenfold's skills pale in comparison to ferry's, but like Matthias said oakey's name will sell many more tickets than ferry. My point of making that comparison was purely on name recognition, not skill.
