REVIEW: Alain Vinet w/Sean Miller at Sonic

WTF happened at Sonic last night?!?

My friends and I arrived around 2:45am, and usually when you are
standing downstairs outside you can hear the music trickling down
and outside at you. Last night that was not the case, it was super
quiet. Once we got inside we saw why, it was scarce on the dance-
floor. In all the weeks up to now i've never seen it so bare in
that place. Sean was spinning some minimal prog stuff that was
moving people a little bit here and there, but for the FIRST time
since the opening my friends and I SAT DOWN!!!!!!!!

Just past 4am mister Alain Vinet came on and the floor filled in a
little more as people wanted to hear what this guy was going to do.
He opened with a remix of Mariah Carey's "Don't Forget About Us", and
since my girl Traci and I are big Mariah fans we found ourselves on
the floor really fast. The music took us up and down a bit like a
rollercoaster with some great speaker stuff then some hot vocals. We
lasted there till about 6am then we had to book.

Alain did a great job even though I've never heard of him until last
night, I think i'd go back to hear him again sometime. This time I
just wish there will be more people in the house. However I WILL be
there next week for Honey Dijon and Cajjmere Wray.

I am really sorry that I missed this night at Sonic. I love Sean and I have heard Vinet before...

I think Sonic was a victim of too many choices in the city, led by Lawler at Guv and the fact that Sonic ran a Friday night event that drew a number of partiers, most of whom only go out one night a week.

I can't help but think back to Morales' comments before the place opened...i.e. "There is no competition"...guess what buddy...there is lots, and more about to launch...The last three weeks at Sonic have been sparse. I think it's time to look at the Ticketbreaks system and the guest list limits on Hosts!

Not sure who you are "Big Boss"...but I am glad you are watching and listening!

There are very few members of the 7 for 7 club...but no one wants to see Sonic become a big success more than we do! We are there supporting you and bringing our friends EVERY week!

270 has been my home, with a small gap, for over two years...and I really don't feel like looking for a new place to hang out..the place is more amazing than ever and the staff, are WITHOUT EXCEPTION the best in the city!

So bring it on Big Boss..Make it easier for people to make the decision to come to Sonic, whether it's a week or two in advance, or last minute after the bars close on a Saturday night...
