the fourth wire?

I realize this should probably be in dj booth...and i did ask......but...whatever, whats that fourth wire for on the technics 1210 mk2s? ....like, there is the ground, the 2 phonos....the power lead...and..then there is this fourth one ...i checked the technics manual online (got mine used) and there is no mention of a fourth wire...

this is just a GUESS but maybe its a "remote" wire to have another device send it a signal to turn on or vice-versa?

Sounds like the guy was running an extra ground wire to his preamp to separate hot and cold connections. Was this guys recording a lot of his vinyls to his computer?

Did he mod them himself or buy them from someone? Just curious.
