http://www.guardian.co.uk/ <---- What do you think of this

Hey UKTAs, a friendly voice from over the pond..

never been in these forums, can hardly understand what some of you are saying eh? us canadians and our ehs.. eh?

anyway, i just wanted to know if any of you had an opinion on this newspaper here.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/

I've heard from some it's pretty reputable, a few others have called it nothing more than a tabloid rag.

I want to know specifically, if you think it's credible, and if you think it represents the opinions and interests of a majority of people in the UK.

the reason i want to know, is that they say some pretty anti-american things, some things i happen to agree with, and i want to make sure this isn't some National Enquirer wanna be.

some recent stories covered by them include: http://www.guardian.co.uk/bush/stor...,648934,00.html

and

http://www.guardian.co.uk/afghanist...,648784,00.html

thanks for you input guys.

if you let me know your opinions on this subject, as well as the guardian, i'd be even more pleased..

It is a fairly big newspaper here, it is fairly informative, it is not like a red top paper like the sun. So i would buy it. But then the sun is normally funnier, and more interesting, lol

imo the guardian newspaper is a very credible and acurate newspaper in accordance and in relation to other well known tabloid newspapers over here...so most of the reports you read will be some what accurate.

in realtion to the second buletin about the continued killings of civilians well..i've seen simiar reports of this on our 6' oclock prime time news broadcast on BBC1..so it is well documented that many innocents are still bein killed in afganistan..but in relation to this is further coverage of the damage caused by al'queda (bad spelling) and of the many victims of this 20 years of social unrest.
but..this happens in any war..there is always public rise in tension..where many populations are misguided and mis represented on human rights figures and estimates..so credible news is hard to obtain.

i think though that the guardian newspaper is more liberal on telling the u.k's population of what is occuring inside afganistan today..so yes it is a reputable newpaper.

Thanks guys..

sounds like they are a pretty good source of info.

one thing worries me..

quote:
in relation to other well known tabloid newspapers over here

tabloid? over here.. a tabloid is unreputable, they print lies, make up stories.. like i mentioned the national enquirer..

however i think in the UK tabloid just means a paper..

right?

Yep, right.

You can use it for reliable info

The Guardian's quite a good newspaper aye.

Sticks to the left of centre, but doesn't like Blair's over-readiness to privatise complex industries.

I'd recommend it.
