Looking for "deephouse" ?!?

First of all I have to say that I wasnt a friend of that housemusic - scene with all the covers of old tracks from the 70s and commercial soundings. But when I listend to a compilation of Hernan Cattaneo I found some interesting house tracks which I liked. I think the style is called deephouse. Im looking for tracks with tribal sounds (love percussion) or with jazz influence with the sound of sax for example.
To name some tracks I like:
Tiger Corps - Cultural Assertion
Dousk - Florence
Green Thumb Versus JV - Grand Theft
and some more I dont know the titles..
Hope you can help me out with some good references
Thanks in advance

Don't think hernan plays much Deep House. He plays Progressive House most of the time if I'm not mistaken.

Hernan plays quite a bit of electro at times, but the majority of what he plays is pretty deep.

Ever tried Danny Tenaglia? Both of his GUs are deep with tons of percussion. Steve Lawler was playing deep house for a couple of years ago (check his Dark Drums album) though I'm not sure what he plays nowadays.

Haha, yeah, I suppose that's what people get for asking on a forum called tranceaddict. Ah well.

i duno if anyone has suggested this but airtight has some nice deephouse on it.

Swift records

try some greek producers like G-Pal, Andrew K , Dousk, and sometimes Kosmas epsilon.

Posted by A.J. on Jun-16-2006 13:18:

Klik Records is another really great Greek label that has released some nice deep house and progressive house.

Nikos Diamontopoulos is probably the closest thing to deep house on that label.....

Yeahh... correct me if I'm wrong, but 3/4 of the suggestions are not "Deep" House at all. To the best of my knowledge, deep house is the jazz-and-latin-infused Chicago-style banged out by Naked Music and Om most commercially, but also DJ's like Mark Grant, Marques Wyatt, Andy Caldwell, Miguel Migs, Mark Farina, and Kaskade. I think a lot of people on TA seem to lump this in with "lounge" for some reason.

I fail to see how Kosmas Epsilon is anything like Deep House at all in fact.

Let me know if I'm way off here though, since I could very well be.

I don't know if the failure in communication is in the responses or with the OP though, as I'm not really all that familiar with Cattaneo.

Posted by Cloud on Jun-16-2006 20:08:

Cattaneo plays mostly prog trance and prog house, not deep house.
Judging by the example that he gave i thought the artists i mentioned would fit the descriptions. But who cares about genres anyway?

I agree with Lebezniatnikov.

thanks for all the replies, will try some artists ^^

to that deephouse/proghouse discussion I cant say much because I am not into the house-scene as I mentioned, but I agree the genre is not very important, the main thing for me is that it sounds good and in this case maybe deep with drum sounds or some jazz influence
