_nyc is pretty lame

Drove from Chicago in hopes that the scene in NYC would be cool. Well I thought it sucked.

Friday - Crobar.
Damn more or less a low class crowd. Why the fuck do they even have 18+ nights? That pretty much sucked also. Waiting for Sasha. He came on for an hour, big whoop. James Lavelle sucked. I left at 5. Sasha came back on after I left but it wouldn't have mattered. I doubt he cared about this night. Just seemed to be playing some filler shit. I was hoping to hear a great set like he did at wmc. What a fucking joke.

Saturday - Pacha
Expecting a mega club. Not quite, this place is pretty small. Hell its more or less the same deal as sound bar in Chicago. Perhaps slightly bigger but not all that much and 15 bucks for a drink. Steve Angello wasn't bad wasn't great. The crowd is NYC dances just as bad as the crowd in Chicago. Where are the fashion models? Saw a lot of fat average chicks in Pacha just like Chicago.

Will not repeat.

Appreciate your comments lol but I have to say, you picked the wrong events to come to lol. I admit, the NYC has its on's and off's, fact of the matter is it's basically always ON in NYC, some nights better than others you just have to take that into consideration since this city is so large. If you truely wanted fashion models you could have choosen other venues who cater to red rope attire, but you won't get your edm of choice. I think part of your bad experience was that you came to NYC with high expectations, hell I would too, it's NYC. You can get what you want, you just need to know where to look for it.

Moreover, the 18+ thing around this time of year (May-July) caters to the prom/afterprom crowd. It's obvious, school lets out these days and clubs make almost triple when they open their doors to afterproms. It gives the club a good reputation to those kids who don't know what the club life is about (eventually will hook'em).

Overall, sorry to hear you had a bad time again, maybe try another event like Summer Stage for PVD in Central Park or Armin @ Tobacco Warehouse, both outdoor events in NYC. With such a diverse crowd you have to expect that not everyone will be pleased, but I'm sure if you look, you'll find what you want.

you sound like a COMPLETE retard here.

megaclub = GIGANTIC SPACE? no.

i hate to disappoint you but if you ever go overseas, you'll see that that their "megaclubs" aren't that big either (save a couple of clubs on ibiza cuz that place is made for extremes). it's a metaphorical term there, genius.

thats probably the worst review ive heard haha hell, i heard plenty of bad reviews about Lavelle's set that night but that doesnt mean New York sucks because of that lol

you shoulda gone to Boris @ Crobar Saturday there are some hotties there for sure, but whether or not you would catch an STD from one of them is another story... if you were lookin for beautiful women, theres a million places near Crobar you coulda gone to, Crobar's about the music, you shouldn't really go there expecting beautiful girls.

Yeah. That's how it is with all clubs in NYC because there's no real estate in Manhattan. Everything is clustered so they have to make the places small.

By contrast, Washington DC has really big mega-clubs: Fur and Love/Dream.

Like you, I was also disappointed in NYC nightlife, because on any given night you can't just go clubbing, you have to know where to go. Club life in NYC is amazing if you have the right connections. Not so for your average visitor.

yeah NYC really does not have the LARGE spaces that it once had back in the day -- all that was shut down by New York Finest ...but then again edm parties were NEVER about pretension and image...it was about enjoying the music and feeding off the vibe of everyone around you. but anyway...if ur lookin' for the high rollers and bottle crowd...not sure a regular trance/house party is the place to go. on the contrary, i heard from my friends that FRIDAY was a really kickass partay. Makes me sad I missed out

on this board, its all about the music son

no but going to a place like Crobar or Pacha, he shouldnt have made that his main objective.... picking up beautiful women is a lot easier at the clubs around and next to Crobar.... not to mention, the average TRUE house or trance music LOVER is not there to be picked up

Why are we bothering with Marak5 for his 3rd screenname???

Fur is hardly larger than most of the NYC clubs. Hell, I think it's smaller than Crobar or Pacha.

I wish they had some massive hard dance nights here like we have back in oz.

I was also dissapointed in the scene when I first arrived, but what is soo excellent about NYC is that they consistently bring in great talent anywhere from 2-6 times a week....there is ALWAYS a place to party with great music!!!

I used to party at the GUV, which is obviously a great club, and thus my dissapointment in the clubs here themselves, but toronto does not get 3 huge names a week or more like NYC does. Sometimes in NYC I even SKIP quite a few parties because there is just sooo much!!!

I am loving nyc so far, and the smaller clubs are awesome! Hittin up Cielo next week for the first time as well

That is so true! I've seen DJ's here i would of never had the chance to see in Oz.

But in Oz on a friday night if i'm in the mood for some hard dance there are 3 huge clubs in sydney that are always consistant. Its like NY's biggest hardest rave of the year every weekend.

but then, i dont think New yorkers like it that hard

like i said in my first post, nyc has everything you want you just need to know where to look for it. in terms of hard dance, if you check the rave circuit, there is a mayday party that usually happens in thompson sq park, you'll see a bunch of hardcore kids moshing to music. Maybe it's not in the mainstream like in a club, but you'll find it. Venues in the past - koncrete jungle, open air, and alot of LES lounge/venues catered to the rave scene events.

you can literally find something to do at any day of the week at any given time in nyc. it is true, we don't sleep!

and for the sake of this thread, hopefully we can get past this issue and let it die out and move on =)

Charles Webster, Fri and Sat
June 30 - Behrouz
July 27 - Dominic Eulberg

Place is hands down the best spot in the city. Great music, vibe, and soundsystem is amazing. Grab a drink at the spot next to it beforehand, awesome outdoor place.

Love is also a great music spot, with a great DJ setup, although its alot different place than Cielo.

edit-and please don't make me edit you...i think you can do that yourself....handle yours
