Thumbs up VH1 Rock Docs: The Drug Years

anyone seen this? It's a week long special about drugs in the USA. monday and tuesday were basically all about the 60s: the origination of LSD, the acid tests, flower power, hippie protests, "rebelling" against norms, death of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, interviews w/ the beatles on doing drugs, etc....etc...

it's really an interesting show [and i don't even do drugs], and this whole week they're going further in the years. so i think tonight will be the intro of disco/70s and then tomorrow 80s and then friday 90s/00's.

so i'd suggest checking it out, if you've got nothing else to do. it's on VH1 at 8pm central time.

yeah i saw it last nite. it was pretty interesting. i like the way they put the political aspect in it and didnt make it look like people were 'druggies', but rather real people (if that makes sense).

i never saw the movie 'easy rider'. did you? i never knew what it was about, lol. i am curious now to watch it.

yea the drug years got some airplay on my tv a few days ago. although i can't imagine what touring the US on LSD is like, let alone driving a fan full of tripped out hippies would be like. didn't stay on heavy rotation but i sat through say 30mins of it.

Crazy how the US government during the Vietnam war equated the use of marijuana and LSD to the anti-war movement and therefore was doing all it could to stop drug use.

Just goes to show how taking drugs may make you think different than the government and therefore making you an enemy to them.

Don't get me wrong theres no shortage of negative aspects to drugs and this show presented those as well especially with the deaths of Hendrix, Morrison, and Joplin but it's the first time I've seen a show that shows the positive impact and the positive side drugs can have.

it also reminded me how i'm never going to be able to try lsd. it's so rare to get it seems (at least around massachusetts).
