Thumbs up W I M B L E D O N ' 2 0 0 6 '

Yeah I know it is early to talk about it, but i already look forward seeing the tournament, seeing Roger Federer win again !(?). I am sure he can't loose on grass, not yet..!

He is on the way to beat the 41 wins on grass in a row of Bjorn Borg (more impressive though because the Swedish player only played Wimbledon whereas Federer plays Halle too).

The disappoinment of Roland Garros is over.. !

Henman knocked out in the first round would be priceless

Posted by Laughingfennec on Jun-16-2006 06:41:

:)

Well, he started the grass season pretty well, so we'll see...

Posted by sr126 on Jun-16-2006 07:56:

too bad nalbandian is hurt, other wise nalbandian would put the hurt on federer.

Posted by sr126 on Jun-16-2006 08:05:

wait, i forgot this is wembledon... argentinians never win there...

Posted by luisjb82 on Jun-17-2006 14:05:

Federer without even sweating... only Ljubicic or whatever it's spelt might have a chance at beating him on grass.

Posted by Laughingfennec on Jun-18-2006 09:18:

I am not sure Ljubicic is the most dangerous, he never had good results on grass, but who knows....
Richard Gasquet played very well against Federer few days ago, he was about to beat him, as well as Oliver Rochus... I rely on Gasquet to play a good Wimbledon.

And I hope Federer will have the time to rest because he looks tired now...

So Federer won his fourth title at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle. He holds now with Bjorn Borg the record for most consecutive wins on grass, with 41 victories.

Hewitt seems on form too, he just won Queen's. Can't wait for Wimbledon

i miss rafter, he was my favorite tennis player. mostly because he was a badass but seemed like a real nice guy. and he was a serve and volleyer.
so much fun to see a good serve and volleyer and a good baseliner duel against each other. (for example agassi vs. sampras)

i'm not sure about wimbledon this year. there aren't anymore serve and volleyers that are good enough to beat people like federer...

Rafter was amazing, but I didn't like when he used to beat Sampras
Today this kind of player are very rare, you have Taylor Dent who is an amazing server vollyer, but he will not be able to play Wimbledon because of an injury.
Then you have Max Mirnyi too who has a very powerful serve and a very good volley.
You have Ivo Karlovic too, the Croatian giant who can win a game in 1 minute thanks to his terrific serve.
But it seems that the server volleyer age is over now. And the grass is not as fast as it used to be some years ago.

That's correct, just want to add that those victories from BB were consecutive wimbledon games, unlike Federers. Still a great achievement though.

Ghost Smilie

Roger Federer will be opposed to the french player Richard Gasquet in the 1st round. Tough. And i am disappointed because it's not sure but probable that Federer wins, and i was pretty enthusiastic about the french player in this 2006 Wimbledon.

i think "the man" is trying to take out federer early, so he doesn't break bjorn borg's record, and "the man" doesn't like federer's style of duncan-ess expressionless play time. "the man" wants to see boobies and bouncing . something federer can't offer.

go anyone who plays andy roddick

that is all

Posted by raveed on Jun-24-2006 06:20:

wimbledons officially going to be the most predictable tournament until federer retires. that is assuming no new challenger comes up because the competition today is useless. Nadal's top spin sadly wont work on grass and i can see him making an early exit.

Hope im wrong though.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-24-2006 14:03:

Agassi just announced he's gonna retire after this years U.S Open

would love to see Hingis make a great run for the title

Posted by chimera66 on Jun-26-2006 04:33:

i absolutely love federer but really think someone else should win...it's just so boring if he wins again. don't you remember watching goran ivanisevic win in 2001? now that was exciting. it would be nice for someone who has waited forever to win or an unknown. of the ladies i don't have a clear favorite, i just don't want to see amelie or justine win, they have already meet their majors quota for the year.

He plays against Robin Soderling who is a solid player on grass. So let's see.

Posted by partyhopper on Jun-27-2006 14:43:

Federer won. ho-hum.

He made quick work of Gasquet, and now owns the record of 42 straight wins on grass, surpassing Borg

Posted by djash on Jun-28-2006 03:09:

Federer is out of competition on grass! I think 2 or 3 year he will win Wimbledon, if he won't have injuries. Ljubicic is a competitor to Rofger on the grass, i think it's a joke.

In women's draw can win Henin or Sharapova. Hingis will lose from top 5 all time.

Posted by tranzcowboy on Jun-28-2006 04:15:

i wanna see agassi take down nadal in the third round...nadal looked awful today...if he wud have played anyone slightly better he probably would have lost

Posted by partyhopper on Jun-28-2006 20:21:

so much for Henmania, as Federer took him down 6-4, 6-0, 6-2, in 85 minutes

that was a pretty pathetic match to watch, too bad for england andy murray has like no chance of winning...the ladies scores were ridiculous today mauresmo, williams and sharapova absolutely destroyed their opponents.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-29-2006 01:58:

the girl that got destroyed by Venus today destroyed herself even be4 the match started by wearing this and check out those big earings haha
