[santa barbara] richard humpty vission review

i saw RHV & David Garcia last night in Santa Barbara at the Wildcat Lounge. It was a really good party. I had a lot of fun and got my fade on. DG set up the vibe perfectly for RHV. RHV played some insane tracks and his mixing was pretty good considering how much he fucks around with layering and cutting and all that other shit he does.

Aight...so he gets off the decks after playing for 1.5hrs and DG hops back on. I go over to ask RHV about this one track he played. I was like "Dude sick set, did you by any chance play Tomas Andersson - Washing Up (Tiga Remix)???" I had to ask cuz that song rocks and I thought I heard it and I wanted to confirm the ID. Then the nigga goes "Shit man I don't know, I have a lot of stuff that I play and I don't know the names." I was like "WTF!" What kind of DJ doesn't know their shit??? I have 700+ records and I know the name of every single one, as well as the year it came out, the remixes on it, and the label! LOL. WTF RHV FTL.

Dude the venue is small but has decent sound and visuals. Its my favorite club in Santa Barbara. Its been voted best dance club in town every year. The crowd was like mostly white females. LOL. CL will get a 2 hour set, hopefully 3. One time I saw him here he fuckin played some house at the end of his set...his closing track was the original of The Clash - Rock the casbah. I can't wait for next week.

you know when you talk to a pothead and they are all like "whaaaaaaaa?" LOL. Thats how RHV was. He was like a lil retarded. He dropped his remix of Gnarls Barkley - Crazy. I don't like it too much but everyone went nuts on the dancefloor. Fuckin David Garcia ended the night with "Big Love" by Pete Heller. OMG it was fuckin ch00000000n. anyone know what this new remix is? I think it was hammered a lot at WMC.

whats wrong with not knowing every single track and evry artist you play. i have a ton of music and can care less who made it, as long as it sounds good. i don't have the time to try and memorize all my crap. most pro djs are the same (except the ones who host radio shows).

stop your crying.......j/k man. had to say it

lol. the thing that irritated me was that I actually gave him the name of the song. I asked him if that was one of the songs he played, and he couldn't remember. Whatev. Still a good time nonetheless.

Nah man I am with ya, every DJ should know exactly what they are playing especially when they are big. I mean common, give the producers some credit and exposure. I gotta admit though, if your are doing some insane ableton on the spot remixing, the tracks can melt into each other and you can lose track of the clips you are playing, but that should be it.

I think Richard basicly looks at the music he plays as just tools to create a certain vibe.

It is funny though, even when asked on his own radio show what hes going to play in his mix he's basicly like "uh.... I have no idea...."
Don't believe me?....you can hear for yourself here-->
