Copying speech of a DVD

Can anyone please explain, how I would go about this?

I have tried already with no success.

Many Thanks.

what software did you use, or have that you could use?
There's the hardway, or the easy way with programs that "extract audio from disc"

I've Got Nero & Wavepad.

I would prefer the easy way, but don't mind if it's the hardway.....

i've been having problems doing this also. i've tried recording it from digital out from my dvd-player with 3 different sound cards and none of them work for some reason. i've also tried to record the "stereo mix" with audacity while playing the dvd on my computer, but it won't record a thing. dunno where the problem is.

use a proggie called DVDx i guess, there u can extract the audio-channel from any dvd... used it with a lot of live-dvds!

I was gonna go through with the hardway explanantion, but I found this program
http://www.dvd-mp3.org/

What I do is rip the dvd, then use the audition feature "extract audio from video." I'd expect audacity to have that feature also...

wow! i tried both these programs and they both crashed my computer!

maybe i'll just leave the audio on the dvd and be happy with it there then.

if you have a separte dvd player -like a stand alone that connects to your tv, and reciever in a home theater system. you can always hook up the audio outs of the dvd player into the audio in on your soundcard. it might require a little creative wireing or use of adapters, but it still works.
