Smiley DJ Basic midi question

Hi,

I'm venturing into the world of midi for the first time here and I was hoping someone could help me out with a couple of things?

I'm using my Radium 49 controller to play my waldorf pulse; The audio is definately coming through an audio track I set up in cubase, but when I insert vst fx they don't have any effect on the audio.

Also, it's all good and well being able to play the pulse from my keyboard but obviously I want to write melodies in the piano editor to be played on the pulse. I guess all that needs to happen is cubase plays my controller which in turn plays the pulse, but to be honest I'm baffled as to how this works. I've got a midi track playing the notes and I've tried setting the out to my controller but this aint workin either!

Anyone?

1. By "insert FX", I would like to assume you mean compression and EQ, etc. If so, you're going to want to put those on the VST channel and not the MIDI channel. MIDI inserts include arppegiators, chord memorizers, etc.

2. On your computer/soundcard, make sure you have the MIDI Out going to the MIDI In of the Waldorf. Even though you're playing it via Radium 49, you're going to want Cubase to play back the synth directly instead of through the keyboard. In your "Device Setup" menu, setup your MIDI outputs to be named "Waldorf" or something (just an example). Then, in your MIDI track, under "output" you should see "Waldorf" as an option. You should be all good to go.
