Help preserve the EDM community!

I wanted to reach out for your help to preserve the dance music culture. Theres a new project called EDMWiki that needs your help. EDMWiki is a Wiki for Electronic Dance Music. Please spread the word and help preserve our culture! Thanks!

http://www.edmwiki.org

Quoted from the website:
Electronic Dance Music is quickly approaching to become the fastest growing music genre across the planet. With the exponential growth of Electronic Dance Music, I felt that it was about time to have an informational archive of this culture.

The creation of this website has one purpose, to understand the history, evolution and culture of Electronic Dance Music. It is only by understanding our past that we can deeply appreciate where we are now.

The EDMWiki project was founded on June 17, 2006 and hopefully that date will become a milestone in the history Electronic Dance Music. This website is not owned or run by an individual, but by contributors from the Electronic Dance Music community.

With this message, I invite everyone to contribute to the EDMWiki project and help the growth of this website. Please help out by spreading the word and letting everyone know about this project. Were always open to suggestions so feel free to share your ideas.

This site will still be better.

What's the difference between that and this?

Posted by ronaldishak on Jun-18-2006 17:52:

well its going to become more detail with tracklistings on various mixshows as well as tracks. Where the track was first sighted, etc. its gonna be pretty deep.

Not to be rude or anything, but...

Jump to: navigation, search

Number 3 DJ of the world

Don't tell me you don't know how people will react to information such as that...

Ok the website cites "Main Areas of Development" and one of them is "Drugs" and if you click on that, it goes to this page..and what does it say ? just one line.
quote:
DRUGS
Drugs are good, please take plenty of them.

OMG OMG !!!! I'm gona do drugs now....i'm soooooo into EDM. And Wiki endorses it !!

you wana spread this type of knowledge ?

sorry, i know, its really hard to make this project to go smoothly. I think its a great idea personally but its gonna take a lot of time and effort from a lot of people to get it started. keep in mind the project is only a few days old.

regarding that armin is dj no 3 thing, well you should edit it if you dont agree with it. its the whole purpose of a wiki. armins page will soon contain all his tracklistings from his radio show and also live mixes that are circulating the web. as well as his discography.

and for ishkur's website, ive actually already contacted him to ask if he could help out with the project. Both of our websites serve a greater purpose which is to record the evolution of EDM. His website is a great resource for everybody that is beginning to love and learn more about EDM.

yes, the drugs thing, well, ill tell you i didnt post it, but it was meant to be an informational page. Its impossible to completely remove drugs from music. im sure the website will continue to get a lot of spam until i can get more people to help me moderate the website.

if you want to helpout and be an admin on the site, send me a pm over tranceaddict.

thanks for those who are still optimistic.

Then, why can't you make this into that?

Posted by ronaldishak on Jun-19-2006 10:12:

ive started to do that. but im not quite done.. watch this page

http://www.edmwiki.org/wiki/index.p...our_Loving_Arms

this is what i was hoping the tracks database to kinda be like.
and each tracklist will have multiple links.

for instance if you found a tracklist
03. Karen Overton - Your Loving Arms (Markus VS Elevation Intro Mix) - (Ultra)

clicking karen overton would bring you her profile. clicking your loving arms will bring you to that page above (the tracks own page), clicking the mix would bring you to the anchor and clicking the label will bring up the labels profile.

each track will soon have a "where this track has been spotted page".

what do you guys think?

http://www.tracklists.org/ was another edm-wiki project...

EDIT> If you want this to take off you should make a sticky in the Tracklistings section of TA and ask that TLs be submitted there :P

Posted by Nsonic on Jun-19-2006 11:51:

And what are we doing about the record label pages?
http://www.edmwiki.org/wiki/index.p...upra_Recordings

EDIT> It would start turning into a more complex discogs...
