Cool! I hope you're having a great time! I visited Saigon, Hanoi, and Danag - there's a link to my blog on the site if you want more specifics. These tracks were with me the whole way - in the car driving past the rice fields on the way to the perfume pagoda, watching the sun set over china beach, etc. it was an amazing experience and i can't wait to go back! Thanks for downloading.

Cheers,

-G

I'm trying to let those images sink in now for I am at the airport for my return to the U.S. You described it rather well, just something peaceful and tranquil about the Vietnam countryside. You should have been to Hue (my place of birth), the imperial city and the perfume river, the food, and the girls can take your breath a way. Miss it already. Thanks for the mix.

That is so damned cool that you got to listen to the mix while actually in Vietnam. I will definitely check out Hue next time I'm over that way - send me a link if you have any pics or blogs or anything. Safe trip home!

THANKS!

Just a word of thanks to everyone that downloaded this mix - and there were quite a bunch of you. I started doing this series mostly for myself - a sort of sonic postcard to bring back good memories of places farawy. To be able to share that with you and in some cases see you travel to those places yourself just rocks so much. Thanks!!!

Upcoming this year:
Scotland
London
India
Burma
Hokkaido

Totally! I actuallt bought involver at a tower records in Miyazaki, Japan when it first came out - so that track has a lot of special meaning for me...

Got any mixes of your own you can link me to?

This set for the most part bored me except for Tom Clouds Told You So and the mystery track that comes right after that one. For some odd reason its not on the playlist? Your intro track took way too long just to get to the point and I had feeling the rest of the set was going to be just as stretched out. My predictions were right on as this set dragged on until those tracks that I mentioned came up. Technically you are great with the decks and way better than me at mixing, but the music was so bland. Congrats on the effort, tough.

Thats cool man, i appreciate the constructive criticism. I guess it's a matter of taste - I've gone a lot more chilled and progressive and probably won't end up doing any more full-on trance mixes. It actually means more to me that you were happy with the mixing itself and I'll double check the playlist and make sure I documented all the tracks. Thanks for listening!

Oh man sorry about that. I didn't realize how critical (or harsh) I was until after I wrote that post. In regards to your mixing it was excellent, but that goes for most dj's on here which is why I like to go beyond that and ask myself questions like: Did he deliver? Did he take me on a continuous musical journey? Anybody with enough practice can mix seamlessly, but can they take people on a trip...strike that chord? The answers to those questions are the very same reasons why people return to see their favorite dj in action time and time again. In your case, though, I've got to say you nailed the head with the tastes stuff so I apologize for that and this rant, lol.

It's real sad that you won't be doing any more full-on trance mixes but I do look forward to your progressive sets.
