HappyHappy I Have NO IDEA How This Happened... But It Did

So, I'm 17 years old and just graduated from Highschool about a month ago. I didnt wanna go through the hassel of having an openhouse because it seemed like just a waste of money that could go towards school instead. Well, I'm also a resident DJ at club in town and spin at quite a few places with a bunch of really talented guys and gals that have become my good friends over the past few months.
However, I had NO idea just how good of friends they were until they all chipped in and suprised me with an "openhouse" with a cake, pool party, tons of girls in skimpy bathing suits, and best of all... a pair of Technics SL-1200 M3D's hardly touched and in hard ass Odyssey flight cases!!!! Now to you guys with your MK5's, you may chuckle all you like, but I've been playing on Stanton STR8-80x's since I started, and to just be GIVEN Techs?!!! Thats insane.
The whole thing was masterfully set up by the "Godfather DJ" of the group as we like to say and my girlfriend as well as my sister. I just had to share the news because its 4 AM and I can't stay away from them or keep my pants clean due to the constant shitting I'm going through because of the shock.
A useless rant to everyone...I know, but maybe if you have a story about how you got your decks, we could start a new fun discussion? Thanks

Miserable sod.

If someone just gave you 700 worth of decks out of the blue, you'd want to tell everyone in the world. And that's just the start of what they did!

I got my decks on the credit card.

That card loves being abused.

Congrats man... What are you using for a mixer?

Posted by Saka on Jun-20-2006 15:30:

Thats a great story, made me smile and it not even me who got the Tech's or anything....

I haven't gotten a present in ages come to htink of it

Thanks for the congrats guys! As I said before, I'm not trying to be an ass and flaunt my Techs or whatever, but I did think it was a crazy DJ related story, and if anyone else had a strange way or just a suprising way of getting their decks\mixer or whatever, I'd love to hear about it. I'm using a Numark DXM09 for a mixer and could'nt be happier!!! If you think the DXM06 was a deal, the extra effects and nice kill switches as opposed to buttons plus the extra channel make it one of my most valued purchases. Thanks guys.

Nice feeling getting techs. I waited 11 years to own a pair!!......And now things are going CDJ Id never sell em though

Bit of a story I guess how I got mine....I burned my hand and arm in work from steam so I put in a compensation claim and got 1300. I bought my mk2's (first decks. Mixed with traktor a few years prior), my mixer (Stanton SMX501) and a laptop

Luckily it healed fine and didnt scar

I havent tried anything else but as a first mixer it will last! By that I mean physically last as my mate has thrashed his for over a year and its still working like new (He plays hard trance/tech at a local club so its abused daily). I paid 230 for mine and for for what you get its a bargin.

Then you have the 3 channels, efx loop, P&G crossfader with adjustable curve and those toggle switches (great for scratching) which will keep you happy for years.

Thats for the older one but there are no changes to the newer one I dont think other than the colours.

Had alot of re-arranging since and new gear

I left there nearly 2 years ago. Was quite dangerous that place... Alot of young people worked there (some looked like schoolkids!!) aswell as foreign people which was difficult to communicate with since they barely spoke english. Oh and alot of people walking around stupidly with knives. Unf****in beliveble! Your probably wondering wtf did I work as. Well it was a food factory

Rasta

Congrats Dude! Theres no better feeling than getting your 1st Tech 1200's. Def. a +1 on the Karma factor as some1 said earlier.

I got my first Techs by slinging pizza at my dead end job when i was 15-16 years old. I remember saving every penny i got from that job in a jar and then sending a Western Union over to PSSL.com to get em..... Good Times! Enjoy the decks brotha
