Bongo Rhythm

I've been trying to incorporate some new percussion sounds into this song. Experimenting with bongos and congas but for some reason it doesn't have the feel that it should. Check it out for me. Is it me or do the pitches of the bongos and congas not match the bassline? I also need some help on rhythm. Thanks guys!

Sample (Do Not Right Click) Forgive me...yousendit was down.

I think the melody of the bassline could be part of the problem. It's also quite hard to hear the bongos, they don't come through the mix that well. I think you need a few more bongos in there and try putting a delay of them so you start to feel some more rythem.

What kind of sequencer are you using for them? I always find that percs like these are much easily done in a 16 step sequencer. Just my opinion. Also, rather than just having some random notes in the bar, try starting the loop of the bongos before the start of the bar and having them go through the start so that it flows a bit better.

Yeah, he hasn't slept in a while. He especially likes music at 100bpm.

I had another listen while I was here. It sounds okay, it's just when the bassline changes notes that it sounds funny to me.

To me, the bassline and bongos seem to have a very similar timbre. You could maybe try a softer bass tone and see if the bongos stand out a bit more then, otherwise try some of the ideas cheggy provided.
