NBA 2006 Draft Thread (incl. unsubstantiated trade rumors :D)

now that the playoffs are done, lets talk about the draft! just post about your favorite team or in general i guess.

for the sacramento kings at # 19, here are my top 3 picks:

1) Mardy Collins-

Seems to have a good attitude, explosive, long arms, and can defend. 6'5 too so possibly can be a good combo guard off the bench since Bibby plays wayyyy too many minutes. We need a backup PG other than Hart (though im curious what he;d do under a new coach) and price needs a few more years, possibly NBDL?

2) Saer Sene-

Very risky, definitely needs a few years to develop but has insane hops (he can touch the top of the backboard) along w/ a 7'8 wingspan. #19 is a tough place to draft so this seems a low risk high reward kind of pick.

3) Kyle Lowry-

Another backup PG, reminds me a lot of bobby jackson, has a nice attitude.

really looking forward to this .
i have a feeling there are going to be some real surprises this year in the draft, and toronto is not going to pick the guy that everyone suggests to pick .

but i believe the journalists, and say this draft is a jump shooting draft, and not really much for strong inside players .

the eddie curry deal will hopefully work out for the bulls. how can it not since we took the second overall pick? unless we select sam bowie or some shit.

i predict the bulls will pick up j.j. redick .. .
but nah . they really cashed in on ben gordon, kirk henrich, and luol deng . solid talent for the future .

thats not so far fetched. i saw a couple draft boards with him going to us with our second first round pick.

you have no idea how happy I am for larry brown cashing in

i used to be really good at basketball and im only like 5'10 but I still say even though havent played in about 3 years that i can make the knick team and am better than this draft class

i heard somewhere that they were firing for "cause" so they technically dont need to give up the 40 mil or whatever it was.

and honestly i dont see the knicks winning anything within the next decade, at least with the same management.

you're the optimistic one...

they won't win anything at all with the same ownership

well i gave the sam bowie scenario. i guess i mean that i hope we take a guy that's going to play like the second overall pick. i like thomas but im afraid that he's going to be a project player that takes three or four seasons to develop into the guy we need.

I don't really know lot about it, cus I'm not a big NBA fan (except playing NBA Live or watching when I have the time the Final series...which ended.. ).

But if I remember correctly two Israeli players are in this draft.
Lior Eliyahu and Yotam Halperin. I think one of them is in the first round and the other is in the 2nd, can't remember though.

nobody mentioning Brandon Roy from the University of Washinton?
about to go in top 5.

maybe #1 or #2

Eliyahu sux!!
he wont get picked cuz he puts too many terms!
Halperin on the Other hand is a solid player,he shoots like Rip Hemilton(or even better) and he's a combo Guard in a draft that lacks Point Guards.
i see Halperin getting picked in the 50th place or something...Chad Ford is sucking his balls on ESPN.com

Portland will probably make a stupid decision (again) and pick the worst player possible or will trade their draft pick for Addonal Foyle or something

I had a dream last night that the Heat traded Antoine Walker for a draft pick

good for the heat! hehe

i hate 'toine, the heat can do a lot better (at the PG too). remember that 3 on 1 fast break (w/ flash on the wing) where he pulled up for the 3? and the defender was jason terry i think? thank god he made that, the city of miama woulda killed him

yea right, and i had a dream that the Blazers traded Theo Ratliff for Shaq

brandon roy is the most complete player in the draft. I saw every UW game this year, and if he was on a east coast team, he would be the biggest name in this draft. He is fucking sick with it.

Im pretty sure the trade in my dream was probably a crappy 2nd round pick...hah
I hated his style of play and when we got him this year I thought Riles was crazy.
yeah I remember that play as well and once they passed him the ball I was like omg I hope he dosnt do what I think he's gonna do.He's had this problem everywhere he's been and to experience his kinda play this whole year for my team was ewwww

I mean seriously the fact that the Heat won the title with Antoine as one of the people they had to depend on for that 3rd scorer says alot about D-Wade and Shaq. And trust me , we here in Miami have let him know how much he has sucked , lol.But hey he had his moments as well and did just enough to help us get the title.

I want the Blazers to get LaMarcus Aldridge. I have a hunch that he's gonna be one of the best 2 players from this draft. Most importantly he's a big with plenty of upside (but still proven not just some prospect). Plus, they need a big guy. There is the whole "Draft the Stash" campaign for Adam Morrison but I'm still leery on his defense and athleticism. I love the passion though and I think he'll score in the NBA. With the NBA going more towards shooting/offense, his defensive liabilities might not be a big of a problem.

Brandon Roy will probably win ROY because he's the most complete player in the draft as he does everything well. He just doesn't do anything exceptionally well. I wouldn't be disappointed with him though. Will he be a star or will he be a nice complementary player?

I had a dream the Blazers traded Darius Miles for a rotten pile of shiate and I was smiling ear to ear. Knicks, you know you want him.
